As for tips/advice, my only thing right now is cross-train! Running is great, but don't neglect other forms of cardio, plus strength training. It may sound odd, but it all really helps in making you a stronger runner.
Also, I don't know how long/far you run at a time, but I started out with the C25K program, which helped me build up endurance.

First off welcome to SP! You're right - just because you're a vegetarian doesn't mean you're healthy. That was my problem. But I just changed my eating habits, tried new foods, I make sure that I eat balanced meals and exercise a lot. It took me a long time to lose weight (7 months to lose 30 pounds, 10 months to lose 40, now I'm working on losing another 8 or so pounds) but it's okay. I just knew that I needed to be healthier, and I was so unhappy being borderline obese that that was enough motivation to keep me going. Good luck!! 2010 days ago
