Healthy After 40

I had a baby in December 2009, and after struggling for two years, I finally lost all the "baby" fat thanks to SP. Prior to that victory, I rejoined in June 2012 with a lot of enthusiasm and commitment. I am still incorporating healthy eating practices, without becoming a dieting lunatic. My ultimate goals are to get into a healthy weight range and continue to achieve healthy eating and exercise goals.

I am finally regaining my balance after an injury and business set-back. Thank God!

My Goals:
My goal is to maintain this program for the long term and never stop focusing on good health. My quantitative goal is to get to a healthy B.M.I.

My Program:
*My goal is to eat 1700 calories a day. I was eating 1300 and was told that was too little, so I am trying something new.

*I work out at least five times a week, now, 30 to 60 minutes of cardio, 40 to 45 minutes of ST (I alternate muscle groups), and 20 to 30 minutes of ab work.

*I am also using the sauna every time I go to the gym for about 20 minutes.

Daily Goals:

(1) Make the best possible food choices or eat less than 1700 calories a day.

(2) Add good things into your diet.

(3) Stop eating when full, not stuffed.

(4) Exercise at least 60 minutes, at least 5 times a week. ST 5 times a week.

(5) Drink water at work or home on weekends.

(6) Move all day, teach standing up, and get up every hour.

(7) Lenten Goal: Pray every day for 10 minutes/read scripture.

Personal Information:
I am happily married and have a lovely four year old for a son. My husband is incredibly supportive and puts up with me experimenting to figure things out.

I am considering getting a personal trainer to maximize my cardio.

Hey, Lady! Great work on getting cleared to start jogging again. Remember it's fitness minutes that matter, not pace, so go as slow as you want and walk as much as your body wants you to. The important thing is to stay healthy so you can keep moving!

I agree with the yoga advice. It helped me a lot when I started, especially with my achy knee. My Monday night yoga class was canceled for the summer and I am feeling the difference. Trying to substitute with a class at the YMCA but it doesn't always work with my schedule. I am getting there today, though!!!

Hope you have an awesome week!

Thank you for saying hello & checking in with me. I appreciate it so much. I've been busy with outside work, gardening etc. My heel has been bothering me ..alot..not sure what that's about.i got new kicks today..better supportive ones. I've not been able to workout much & my eating is terrible. I'm making bad choices & hubby brings food home all the time...same old stuff for me ...spinning my tires in mud...I know it's sad..I sound like a broken record..I don't like to keep blogging about the same fussing & complaining.I appreciate keeping up with your blogs ...they're inspiring ! Keep up the great work. Thank you for sharing.

He could be right. The sleep apnea may be causing your body not to get enough rest! That's, of course, if you have it.

"You've heard the old procrastinator's turn of phrase, "Don't do today what you can put off until tomorrow."
Well, the same goes for procrastination itself. Put if off until tomorrow.
Seize the future you want by seizing the present you have.
Get started now – not tomorrow, next week or when you get around to it.
"Around to it" never seems to get here."
