2015 UPDATE:
Two babies later and 50 lbs + heavier! Needless to say I have lost my motivation along the way to hit the gym and eat right. My goal is to finally take care of myself and be stronger for my babies. I can't wait to go on this journey with all of you!

2011 UPDATE:
I am now pregnant for the very first time and we're so excited. I was on my way to losing the weight last year but have gained it all back and more! :( I would like to find pregnant buddies or mothers to share this journey with. I'm due in the beginning of April and having an unmedicated natural birth using Hypnobabies so I have to really get into shape! :)

I would like to hear your experiences in losing postpregnancy weight as well. It sounds very challenging especially if you're breastfeeding and not getting any sleep.

Hi, my name is Maria. I joined Sparks for moral support. It's October. I am about 5'2 and 170 pounds. I am doing this because my weight and appearance have stopped me from living my life to its fullest; it keeps my self-esteem down all the time and I want to get out of this rut. My plan is to lose 10 pounds every month until I reach the goal of 120 lbs. so I can start living a happier, healthier life. I'd love to hear some of your struggles and motivational stories.

My Goals:
-To have a healthy natural pregnancy in 2 months using exercise, good nutrition and hypnobabies!
-to avoid gestational diabetes
-to lose 50 lbs during the 3 months after pregnancy (this is what I expect to have gained---I have lost so much discipline since the pregnancy)
-lose a total of 70 lbs by Christmas

Here are some of my goals:

-Target Weight: 170 lbs to 120 lbs.

My Program:
2011 (during pregnancy)
-1-2 hours of cardio per week at the gym or outdoors
-less sugar and carbs to avoid Gestational Diabetes
-treat myself to one small portioned craving per week
-drink 8-9 glasses of water daily
-eat veggies and fruits at every meal to avoid cravings

Here's what I plan to do everyday :

-3 to 4 days of cardio; may include kickboxing, aerobics (step & dance), DDR, elliptical/treadmill, swimming
-2 days with trainer for circuit training and strengthening exercises
-creating food journal
-eating less carbs for dinner and more fibre for breakfast
-weaning off of sugary temptations and snacking on more fruits and veggies
-drinking 8 cups of water a day
-keeping myself busy with a hobby/errands/ house cleaning to keep myself from thinking of food

    haha I see now. I forgot to include my food intake and only listed the fitness part in the first week! That's why it says 10 lbs. No, I only lost about 4 lbs in the last 3 weeks. I will try to be good at filling those in from now on.

    HI !! FIRST !! emoticon FOR THE GOODY !!! 10 lbs. is not a Safe amount to lose in one month, 5-7 is more realistic. You denying yourself food for a month MAYBE TAKES OFF FLUID but, afterward your body starts to eat other tissue for the energy in your muscles. Eat 3-5 meals; nutritional with fruits & vegetables do 1-2 snacks of fruit or a vegetable. Divide the plate in half, one-half is your vegetables the other half divide into 2 halves one for meat the other for carbohydrates (bread etc). This might take longer BUT, YOU WILL FEEL HEALTHIER EVERY DAY!!!!! If you INCREASE the amount of EXERCISE OVER THE MONTH YOU WILL SEE A DIFFERENCE. emoticon emoticon emoticon
