Running Hard Towards New Goals

Hello! I'm 53, and have really benefited from joining Spark. When I first found Spark in September 2006, I was sedentary and miserable. After a few months of reading posts, I started running and since then,, I've raced in an awful lot of 5k road races... However life throws out challenges and thanks to doing volunteer work, I've been pressed for time for the last 4 years... and as a result, my running schedule has suffered... and (shudder!) I've gained weight. So... I had to get ...
Hello! I'm 53, and have really benefited from joining Spark. When I first found Spark in September 2006, I was sedentary and miserable. After a few months of reading posts, I started running and since then,, I've raced in an awful lot of 5k road races... However life throws out challenges and thanks to doing volunteer work, I've been pressed for time for the last 4 years... and as a result, my running schedule has suffered... and (shudder!) I've gained weight. So... I had to get creative. I now volunteer at our local humane society as a dog walker and it forces me to take that daily walk. Plus, I've joined a 24 hr gym and I expect that to help with my consistency. Excuses be gone! Ideally I like to bike and run, but now I have the tools to get some sort of workout in when my schedule is overloaded.

aha! glad to know I'm not the only one using an older style exercise bike! from your blog description I thought you had the kind that pumped the arms for twice as much cardio! Either way, can't wait to try that out with our cst when we get home. Thanks for the update! emoticon
