It is now September 28, 2017. I have been trying to stay on a low-carb, high-fat diet and it seems that I've finally had some success at not only losing weight but feeling better than I have in a long time.

I'm struggling a bit with the fact that the weight loss is so slow, but hey, it didn't get as high as it is overnight, so I guess I can be patient and lose it ever so slowly. Since beginning around March or April of 2016, I have lost 24 pounds. I know that doesn't sound like much for someone like me who has to lose over 100 pounds, but that's a nice chunk off.

My one problem is that I'm not truly following any set program, just trying to eliminate carbs as much as I can. Mostly I have cut out eating bread (my nemesis), potatoes, rice, processed wheat of any kind and nothing with flour. I am learning to use the substitute flours, of which there is a wide variety. The only problem is that I am a lousy cook and every time I try a new recipe, it's blah (not bad, edible but not very tasty), although I have had a few successes.

The great thing about this way of eating is that my type 2 diabetes is almost gone. My A1C went from the highest at 6.9 and is now 5.3 (pre-diabetic). My doctor told me that diabetes doesn't go away, but you can consider it controlled. I consider this part of it a great success. So now I just keep on trying to get it right and lose the weight.

Hopefully, this will be my last ever attempt and I will only be successful from here on in.

I have discovered low carb hight fat works better for me. Even my bloodwork numbers have improved.

I am a 62-year-old wife, mother, and business owner who has been fighting weight since I was a teenager.

I have tried many diets and yes they do work (at least for the two or three weeks that I am able to stick with it).

Looking for a buddy to help stay focused.

Having retired from real estate, I am now a writer/author with two books under my belt and working on more.



Other Information:
I love reading. writing, surfing the web, travelling, crafts, and music and would like to find the time to do all those things.

    Welcome back. We are glad to hear from you. Just talking small walks is a start. I was the same way at work being disorganized. Then I decided I am going to finish one thing then move on to the next job. I sometimes get off track but I just go back and before I know it I am finished then ready to do the next job on my desk. Just take it one day at a time.
