It's All About Being Healthy

I discovered Spark People in October of last year. Did pretty good until the end of the year and then went AWOL. I'm back at it again.

I am a Realtor in Seattle and live with my husband of 40 years. We are raising our 2 grandchildren Mike and Michelle. Mike has recently moved out, (he is 19 now) and Michelle will be 16 in May. I am 57 and have put on a few pounds each year - you know the story you tell yourself "It's only a few pounds, I can take that off anytime" until ...

I am 57 and have put on a few pounds each year - you know the story you tell yourself "It's only a few pounds, I can take that off anytime" until the few pounds equals lots. My goal is to lose 40 lbs. I have found that by doing it in baby steps rather than an all out crash diet it works so much better.

I am looking forward to being healthy again!

Hang in there, break things into smaller chunks of time. Find things to distract yourself. You can do it! emoticon

Very impressed and I agree by the way that smaller steps really...using the trackers on this site really do it for me...each day I complete them and they remind me to keep at it...I am learning about balance in food intake and know that I need to enter Fitness activities so it forces me out and about...I have found that this is helping....on m first few weeks so praying tomorrow is a good weight loss day....or that measurements or BMI, fat etc. are going down....either way I know I FEEL so much better, stronger and healthier for all the exercise I am doing and for eating better...Hugs...we are on an almost identical weight loss journey...I have 37 and you 40 and we are starting around the same time too....so nice to have someone to walk with :-) Hugs Dina
