Chris and me and Wild Adventures

Another before picture - Feb 2005. This photo started me on my journey

My day.... while Chris is out on the Harley. He did promise to take me for a ride this evening when my work is done though. I guess he likes me a little.

Welcome to my page!!

I discovered Sparkpeople in December of 2007, and was a member until October or November of 2008, when life happened and I left the site for a while. I was gone for about 3 months... but returned in January of 2009. I am staying at a fairly healthy weight, but I find that without tracking and accountability that this site provides, I start slipping back into my old bad eating habits and slack off on the exercise, as I have recently done. I am now re-focusing, and getting back with the program.

After several attempts at marathon training, and being sidelined by injuries every time, I have now completed 36 full marathons and 3 ultra marathons (50K and above). I began my training for my first one on September 14th, 2009 with the goal of running the Museum of Aviation Marathon in Warner Robins, Georgia on January 16, 2010. I followed the Hal Higdon training plan religiously, which lasted 18 weeks. And I am proud to say that on January 16th, 2010, I DID complete the Museum of Aviation Marathon with a chip time of 4 hours 54 minutes.

Completed Marathons
Museum of Aviation - Warner Robins, Georgia
Soldier Marathon - Columbus, Georgia
Snickers Marathon - Albany, Georgia
Georgia Marathon - Atlanta, Georgia
Scenic City Trail Marathon - Chattanooga, Tennessee
Boogie Marathon - Ellerbe, North Carolina
Make It By Midnight Marathon - Macon, Georgia
Rock 'n' Roll Savannah Marathon - Savannah, Georgia
Soldier Marathon - Columbus, Georgia

Louisiana Marathon - Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Tallahassee Marathon - Tallahassee, Florida
Albany Marathon - Albany, Georgia

Too Slow For Boston Marathon - Boone, NC
Darkside 8 Hour Run (50K distance) - Peachtree City, GA
Darkside Memorial Day Marathon - Peachtree City, GA
Hatfield-McCoy Marathon - Williamson, West Virginia
Make It By Midnight 2012 - Macon, Georgia
Air Force Marathon - Dayton Ohio
Marine Corps Marathon - Arlington, Virginia
Soldier Marathon - Columbus, Georgia
Space Coast Marathon - Cocoa, Florida
Mississippi Blues Marathon - Jackson, Mississippi
Museum of Aviation Marathon - Warner Robins, Georgia
(list is incomplete...)

I am Marathon Maniac #3628!

I am finally getting serious about working toward being in the best shape of my life. I am shooting to one day FINALLY break 4 hours in the marathon and eventually, qualify to run Boston! Even after a knee surgery in 2014 that has left me barely running at all, these are still goals and I know that I can accomplish them.

I am currently doing the Eason LiveFit 12 week Trainer, which consists of heavy strength training 5 to 6x per week, with 3-4 days of that having an additional 30 minutes of cardio (my runs!!!). Saturday is my long run day, and Sunday is my rest day.

My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to transform my body and to be in the best shape of my life. Age is only a number... I believe that it doesn't matter how old we are, we can achieve amazing fitness!

In 2017, I am training again, and hope to beat at least one of my running PR's.

My Program:
Currently, I am doing the Jamie Eason LiveFit Program (12 weeks). I am on my third round of the program.... it WORKS!!

I am also currently doing Hal Higdon's Novice 1 half marathon training program.

I am following a nutrition plan that is, simply put, 90% clean eating. Nutrition is 80% of the weight loss journey.. you can't have a fit body if you fuel it with junk. Besides, I hear Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym ---- and I want to see my abs!!

Personal Information:
I am a 45 year old divorced mother of three grown children. The youngest graduated high school in May 2016. I have an amazing boyfriend of over 3 years, and am back in school at my "late" age in order to finish my Bachelors degree in history.

Other Information:
Running PR's:

5K -24:16
10K - 50:24
12K - 1:02
Half Marathon -1:58
Marathon - 4:15:32

Hey, Becki! How are you? I decided to do my FMF challenge workouts for another week, and then I am going to do the Live Fit! I'll be ready to start sometime around April 1st. I'm still going strong, just been super busy this week.

Hey, Becki! Yes, we moved to Tally. And yes, you can hit me up any time! I am getting back to Sparking mainly for the tracking too. I am also trying to clean out my old friends & get new ones, to kind of revamp & gain some new inspiration. I wanted to start blogging for accountability, but it is HARD to stay consistent with blogging! I think that's why I backed off SP for a while in the first place.... too time consuming. So trying to keep it short & sweet.

Anyway, I started a 15-day fitness challenge I came across through FB. I am on day 5, but I am also tapering for a half marathon on March 18th... LOL I am a glutton for punishment! So, the leg workouts I am doing may not be ideal for tapering before that. Oh well! Key thing, I am on FIRE and motivated, and I am getting more fit! I took a short time off running when we moved, and starting back is always hard. My break from running wasn't nearly as long as yours. You are doing great getting it back! Good luck on your 5K Saturday! Short races are fun too.

Oh yes, I do remember following some of what you were doing after the surgery. Make sense that you took the time off! Your body is probably a lot more ready now. Strength training is so important! I was reminded of that recently when I tore up my glute/leg running, after several months of no consistent ST. (Piriformis syndrome, I think is what I have) I've been working my glutes, hips, & legs a lot to strengthen them back up.

Did you know I moved? We just moved to Tallahassee right before Christmas. So, I'm probably a little bit closer to you now. Hubby got a new position and promotion with his job here, hence the move.
