My name is Jo and I am currently training for the 2007 Florence Marathon. I am training with the National AIDS Marathon Training Program. Through my running, I am raising money for an organization that is near and dear to my heart--AIDS Project Los Angeles.

This past weekend, I received some grave news....if I am not training at a sub-6 hrs. marathon pace, I will not be able to go to Florence, Italy.

I have a lot of people who are counting on me, people who have supported me and have made very generous donations to APLA.

More than ever in my life, I feel the pressure and the NECESSITY to lose weight. I need all the support I can get! :-)

Hopefully, you will be eligible for that race! And if not? Then your energy and caring might be needed somewhere else at that time.
We do the best we can do.... and know that in the long run the effort we put into our attempts is often what really counts. You are working hard for a noble cause.

If you reach a roadblock, don't assume you've reached a dead end. Keep your eyes open for another avenue that reaches your ultimate goal. That's true of goals that are important crusades and true of personal lifestyle or weightloss changes, too!

Good luck, whichever roads you travel!

Thank you for your comment and advice. It is really appreciated. I am impressed by your drive. I only can wish that I could run. I don't think I could ever do a marathon, I only hope that I could make it 20 minutes running on a treadmill. You are an inspiration!!!!

Thanks for the comment! I would love to be able to run a marathon...someday! Thanks for the inspiration. And I hope training gets better so that you can get to Italy! AIDS work is something near and dear to my heart as I worked in family planning for years and years. Good luck!
