College athlete, then four babies. Getting back in the groove

I'm MapMama7. I've always been athletic and enjoyed team sports. After lettering in 11 seasons in high school (basketball, field hockey, and track), I even played college athletics. But after having my first baby and putting on 70 pounds while pregnant, it was rough getting back in shape, especially without a coach and team mates encouraging me.

I joined SparkPeople in spring 2012 on the recommendation of a friend, and I love it.

Current goals include improving my 5K ...

Current goals include improving my 5K time (my personal best since having kids is 25:40), taking a spinning class for the first time, completing a sprint triathalon, and reaching my goal weight by Christmas.

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm a mom of three and a full time grad student. Running is my outlet, my stress management tool, my go-to form of excercise! I've done 3 half marathons and many 5Ks, but trail running with friends through the summer is my favorite kind of running.

Unfortunately, I suffered a stress fracture in my right foot at Thanksgiving (out on a run), so I am off running and any other impact sports until the middle of January. I don't like swimming, but I'm going to try to make the best of it and keep my cardio fitness up so that when I get clearance to run, I won't be starting over completely!

Next half I'd like to run is in March. We'll see if I'm able to get in shape soon enough!

I look forward to meeting people through this group! :)
