My Mom told of hurricane Hazel in the 1950's. She said sheep were blown into the tree limbs. I suppose they didn't have much warning then. The family probably gathered around a radio back then. I don't remember what year we got our first TV, but I do know I was born then and that was in 1951.
The rivers will flood carrying the drainage from this hurricane, so there is still going to be after effects though the storm has passed. We are supposed to have sunny days and I am hoping that might dry the ground out some to prevent trees from uprooting.
I am grateful for the tip about ice bags. It is one I will remember. 1974 days ago
So you like my new picture! One of the teams I'm on has told everyone to get comfortable in their "jammies" and we'd chat. Sadly enough, this picture could be me, but I'd be carrying a protein smoothie instead of a coffee pot! Sheila 1975 days ago
Thanks ever so much for all your support & cheering me on to even greater efforts - and losses! It's been a long time coming but finally I'm on the downward trend - nearly 20 lbs so far (and only 80 more to go, but we won't dwell on that! lol) Hope you're feeling better & getting that last bit of holiday R & R. Surely you didn't spend the whole time house cleaning/organizing 1977 days ago
Cleaning is what I do when I am stressed or angry. My husband lost money from his VA check and we struggle to pay our bills. I wanted to inventory the food we have on hand. By tying the chore with the time the alarm would go off for me to get up for church, I was able to force myself to get it done.
I have another cabinet and under the counter where there is a revolving shelf in the corner (canned goods) to do too. My inventory should reduce buying more of what we already have and help me when deciding on a recipe by knowing what is on hand. 1981 days ago
