I think it is time for me to re-write this page! It all started around Memorial day this year (2007). I had just started thinking I really needed to lose weight but I was in total denial about how bad it had gotten. I was probably a size 14 but always found size 10 or maybe 12 clothes that kind of fit - I wore uncomfortable clothes instead of proper fitting clothes! Anyway, I was at my former boyfriend's parents house and decided to step on their analog scale. I was SHOCKED when it read something like 183 pounds. I was sure there scale was bad and I kept looking at myself all weekend, thinking "holy sh*t, this is what 183 pounds looks like?" Starting then I really went to work on improving myself and changing my life.
I bought a nice digital scale and by the time it came and I weighed myself I was at 176 pounds (that's what I was when I started spark, too). So by then I felt like I had made a little progress. I stopped drinking caffeine, stopped eating white flour and sugars, stopped eating red meat. Through Spark I learned how many calories I should eat and I wrote down everything and stayed within that range each day. I started working out daily, first just on my elliptical but then I added weights and situps, pushups, and more yoga. I took it really seriously.
I kept getting nervous about trips I had planned - a work trip to Mexico City where I can't eat anything washed in water, so no salad. A business trip to Eastern Europe where the concept of "dressing on the side" is foreign. A pleasure trip to Europe where I wanted to eat, a pleasure trip to the beach at a hotel with no gym. One by one I got through those obstacles and kept losing.
On October 13th I was at my former boyfriend's parents house again for a wedding. I bought a new size 6 dress for it that I think looked really good on me, and I stepped on their analog scale again - I weighed in at 137!
I'm a small girl, only 5'2", so I still have some work to do - I want to get down to at least 130 and I think I should be a size 4, but that's amazing. A few years ago I threw out all my size 4 clothes from college because I thought I would never wear them again. People keep asking me what I'm doing, how I have lost all the weight, and I know they are hoping I'll tell them some great secret, like a magic pill that you can take and the fat all melts off. Of course there is no such pill, and it takes hard work and dedication, but it is not really painful either. There are lots of great foods that fit well into a diet, exercize actually feels fabulous and realizing that you can run on the treadmill at 6 miles an hour or run the entire 45 minutes on the elliptical or do 15 pushups in a row feels so darned good. Shopping for size 6 clothes feels unbelievable. Dancing at a wedding and feeling really damn sexy well that feels a gazillion times better than anything I could ever eat.

Today is November 12th and I have met my goal of 130 pounds! I really can't believe it! I feel very proud and like I can do anything. I've set a new goal of 125 - after that, we'll see. I have also created a new team for people who want to leave the 120's so I can still have a place to dump pounds - my favorite thing to do! If you are a short girl in the 120's please join me!
Another update - today is December 9th and I now weigh 124.2! So I reached my next goal. I'm going to set another goal for 120!
Another update - finally I'm below 120 - today is January 22nd! My new goal is 118 but truly it is about tone now. I cannot believe I weigh less than 120!
Another update - today is 2/29 (leap year) and I weigh around 125. I am right now focused on a healthy life and doing lots of exercise. I feel great about where I've come and I love the body I've got. I plan to spark on for years to come!

I've come and gone and been back on since September 2010. I got back up to just over 140 pounds and today, November 4th I'm at about 128, which feels pretty good.

Now in weight loss mode 1200 calories a day, work out 7 days a week. At least 8 glasses of water a day, limited alcohal.
As a lifestyle - 6 days a week exercise, limited white breads and pasta and rice (almost none), no juice, no soda, no red meat, healthy choices.
I am 34 and live in SF.
