The Road to My Biggest Achievement

I have struggled with my weight for the last 16 years, that's more than half my life. I was a very active child but developed depression and a low self image upon entering my teen years which lead to my weight gain. My highest weight was 213, reached shortly after graduating college, 9 years ago.

I have lost a lot of weight several times, sometimes in a healthy way, sometimes through stress and lack of an appetite. This time, I want to lose the 35 pounds I need to lose to reach my goal weight for the FINAL time. I'm well aware this will be something I deal with for the rest of my life but I truly feel if I can lose the weight and gain my self confidence and self esteem back... I will find the power and strength to maintain the weight loss.

I'm finally ready to begin the road to my biggest achievement, once and for all.

*Eating healthy and finding the right calorie range for effective weight loss.

*Exercising 3-5 times a week.

*Learning new (and tasty) recipes I can make at home instead of eating out.

I'm 31 and live in Chicago with my amazing boyfriend and our dog Spike along with my boyfriend's busybody father.

It's a pleasure to "meet" you. I know we both face an uphill battle but I also know that somewhere inside, we have it in us. The most important thing that I've learned so far in my very long journey is to never give up. Mistakes happen, we're human and by that definition; not perfect. I'm scared of failing as well but I think with a supportive community (like this) we can reach our goals!

Your Sparkpage really resonates with me. You sound like I feel (I have depression too). I hope you will feel better soon. I joined about 3 weeks ago and am just a couple pounds below my highest weight ever. I think this is the right place to come. I'm feeling really good about it, but scared too, that I'll fail. But let's try...
