My Goals:
I need to lose about 30 pounds to just be healthy, but I'd really like to lose 50 pounds and feel good about myself again.

As far as exercise, I am in surprisingly good shape despite being heavy. I can run farther and am stonger than I was when I was in my twenties and weighed 65 pounds less than I do now.

My Program:
After years of dieting--mostly lowfat diets--I keep getting heavier and heavier. About 6 months ago I found out I have a severe vitamin D deficiency that probably caused the weight gain and fatigue I've been having. Guess what? You need fat to obtain vitamins like A and D and also to build muscle! Who knew? So that's why lowfat, high carb programs, including Spark People's, don't work for me. My body holds on to fat trying to obtain those nutrients. But I LOVE Spark People because it lets me structure a diet within my calories with more fat and also lets me track my nutrients like vitamin D! Hooray! I am currently eating 1240-1650 calories (sometimes more if I'm hungry) with a goal of 50% of my calories from fat and limiting my carbs to under 200. I am also attempting to eat as many whole foods as possible and limit my added sugar to 20 grams a day. I am doing P90X (round 2) with my husband, trying to average a calorie burn of 3000 per week through exercise. And so far it's working! I'
