Greetings...my name is Barb and I reside in Saline Michigan. I have two grown daughters and one 11 month grandson that is the light of my life. My husband and I have lived in our community our entire life. My mom lives with and depends on us due to MS and parkinsons. The most incredible thing is that I have two living grandmothers. One is 101 and is just now starting to fail and the other is 97 and going strong.

My Goals:
My goal is 50 by 50. I will turn 50 on Jan 1, 2009 and I want to loose at least 50 pounds by then!

My Program:
 My approach is healthy eating and increased exercise. In order to reach this, menu planning is a must...if I don't...we eat like junk.

Hi Barb, I saw your 50 lbs by your 50th birthday goal and just wanted to share that my goal is to reach my ideal weight by my 40th birthday, which is 5 days after your 50th! (1/6/09) So we're definitely on this journey together. I've set my goal pretty high, but it's really a long-term goal ... I'm already ecstatic about the losing I've done so far, and even if I get within 40 lbs of my goal weight by my 40th, I will feel I've succeeded. Here's to making the journey together! -Marsha

Hello, I just wanted to stop by and comment on your page after reading your blog today. I cam to some of the same conclusions you did about 5 years ago and have been on this journey ever since. Getting DX with sleep Apnea saved my life I believe. My CPAP is my friend and never leave home with out it. Getting that under control gives you the energy to do the exercise that is required. I have lost 175# so far but i can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My health is so much better now and still holding as a pre-diabetic and no Med's. You can do this for YOU!

Babs, VERY Cute costume!!! I just loved your advice about hills and valleys!! Looks like we are in about the same spot, weight wise. I would be happy to support you in your effort to lose weight and get healthier. Maybe we can reach our goal together!!! My goal this year is to get down to 250 lbs. I figure 50 lbs. a year is a good goal. I have only lost 5 lbs. That is not good. But I hope to start doing better. If I can lose 5 lbs. in each of the next 10 months then I will reach my goal.

Your Grandson is cute in that costume.

Sounds like you are busy taking care of other people. Don't forget to take care of yourself.

Stay with Sparks to reach your goals. Don't let the cold and snow get you down. Winters here can be bad, but spring always comes and it's beautiful with all the flowering trees.
