I didn't mind being "gordita", but my doc said I should lose the weight for health. I am post menopausal, married 37 years before my husband passed away in Feb of 2011. He loved me the way I was and so do the people I've come to know and love during my mission trips. I am not trying to impress anyone, but I want to be around for my grandkids and for my extended family in Peru

Fitness Minutes: 51,630

My Goals:
To reach and stay around 180, maybe even as low as 160 if possible, SOME time by 2017. I may never be able to fit into my 40 year old wedding dress, but I can at least hope to be fit and healthy for my remaining years of service.


My Program:
My daughter, Abi, and I got in this together, by changing our eating habits and developing an exercise habit. I am trying to exercise more regularly and eat more "freggies".



Personal Information:
I was born in Texas, but I''ve lived in Rochester most of my life. I became a Christian my senior year of high school (Spencerport class of ''71) and met Ansel at an Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship retreat during my 2nd year at SUNY at New Paltz. We married less than a year later (Oct 27, ''73) and after losing our first child went on to have 3 others - Abi (12 -77) Ben (8-83) and Cassie (10-86). Ben married October '06 .Abi has given us our first 2 grandchildren-and yes, by the same man!Our son Ben gave us a granddaughter, Penny, in Sept 07 and grandson Jack in February 09! My husband Ansel passed away in February of 2011, but the Lord united me with a wonderful Peruvian man in August of same year, Levi Utia. We tried to have a civil ceremony either here or there. But we encountered so many obstacles. We finally married in August 2016, and are now in the process of getting his spouse visa.


Other Information:
I've made 11 mission trips to Peru, and will gladly explain how I became involved to anyone who has ears to hear! I have "second homes" in Pucallpa, Lima, Chiclayo, and Iquitos (just wish I could go more often) and I have cultivated some very close friendships there.

    I decided to sweep the kitchen last night with a broom and took out everything that was sitting on the floor, light stuff, and swept the floor and landing, then put everything back. It was after 11 PM when I started and I set a timer for 15 minutes. I didn't want to make noise since hubby was already in bed asleep.

    I got my exercise in. I was having a terrible urge to eat and that focused my mind for a bit, but the craving was still going on past 2 AM. I feel good today that I didn't give in to it. I think I could have devoured a half a jar of peanut butter, lol!

    When I worked, I would walk the outer aisles of KMart. There was also a high school track that I could stop at on the way home and walk laps before school opened. I know, for me, it is difficult to set my mind to doing exercise.

    I follow Dr. Eric Westman's way of eating which lowers blood glucose without medication and it also causes the body to burn fat which results in weight loss. It does help to add fatty meats such as bacon, salami and pepperoni along with regular meats. No breads or pastas, no fruit or milk.

    I was down to 225 pounds, but then we had expenses for car maintenance and the pool. Hubby spent our grocery money on junk and the only thing I had that was listed in approved foods was eggs.

    Blood glucose this morning before breakfast was 142. That is still high, but it will go down if I stay with the plan. I just have to look at the stuff I have on hand to make sure that I don't use much of what has "lose" in it. I do use my coffee and tea as fillers and have a no carb vanilla Torani syrup to use in my coffee to sweeten it. It makes a mug of coffee almost seem like a dessert.
