I'm a mother of 3 boys and twin girls, ages 10, 7, 4, and 7 mos. I am a licensed midwife with a homebirth practice (www.genesismidwifery.com) and I've been married to my highschool sweetheart for 11 1/2 years. I'm also very obese and watching my mother's health slip away from her own obesity is terrifiying me.

I've started every possible diet out there. So far I've lost a ton of weight, and gained it all back. I'm trying something new here in that I'm doing smaller goals at a time. Hopefully that will help. I'm totally unsure of myself as far as dieting goes, but I'm willing to keep trying.

UPDATE: 4/22/09 I never really got with it when I joined SP and I still barely use it except for logging my calories. But I've been paying close attention to my nutrition and working with a personal trainer for about 2 mos now. I feel better than I have in years, I'm sleeping well, and feeling much more confident that I'm moving in the right direction. My husband and I will celebrate our 13th anniversary this year and we're taking the kids to Disneyworld in September. I'm looking forward to being at Disney and being under 200 pounds for the first time in 10 years!

UPDATE: 6/25/09 Today marks the day that I am officially 50 pounds down from my highest weight. I am still at the gym 6 days a week doing an hour of cardio. I strength train every other day and still meet with my trainer at least once a week and usually twice. Today my weight is 224.2. I don't know if I'll be under 200 for the Disneyworld trip, but I'll be close!

UPDATE: 9/28/09 I was 212 for the DisneyWorld trip. Not where I wanted to be, but still amazing that I have lost so much weight. Struggling for the past couple of weeks, but working hard to get back on track. I'm 216.2 today.

UPDATE: 11/16/09 I have no idea what I weigh. I have seen the scale as low as 210, but last I looked it was 212 STILL. I have put the scale away until my bday (12/17) and then I'll check again. Still working out, still tracking my calories. I'll get there. Slow and steady wins the race.

eating several small, nutritious meals daily; working out with a trainer 2x a week; cardo 6x week for an hour (elliptical); staying positive; NO FAST FOOD
