I'm learning, much like the Velveteen Rabbit, what it takes to be real; growing into myself and coming to appreciate what that means exactly. Being able to look in the mirror without flinching and feeling the same compassion for the person I see there as I try to show everyone else. I've come far, but the road is long ahead of me and yet, for the first time, I look upon that fact with anticipation instead of trepidation. There is still much to discover, experience and enjoy.

I'm back on track again. After the death of a childhood friend in December, I lost my way for a while, but a chest pain scare and a trip to the ER last month brought me back to my senses again. The motivating factor since then has been every time I'm faced with a temptation, I remember my little girl crying in the back seat on the way to the ER, being so scared that something was wrong with mommy. It really made me think about the choices I make now have consequences that affect more than me. I don't want to live with chronic health problems and potentially die young. I want to be there for my daughter and I want to get as much out of life as possible which I can't do when I hold myself back with unhealthy choices.

Fitness Minutes: 882

My Goals:
- Complete C25K training

- Learn to hula hoop; hoop dancing

- Parkour

- Take belly dancing classes

- Be able to do a handstand

- Take aerial acrobatic class

- Visit Tomo Hotel in San Francisco

- Complete the 5k Color Run in December 2012

- Buy an outfit from Victoria Secret


2012 Summer 5% Challenge Goals:

- Stick on the low end of my calorie range most days

- Phase out diet soda in favor of non-sweetened teas and water

- Continue C25K training

- Develop ST routine for upper body

- Learn more about body weight training
