Returning to Get My Spark Back

I am not new to SparkPeople. I am a returning member (formerly A*L*P*). I began my Spark journey in Jan of '07 and hit many highs and lows during that time. I began my journey with the notion of seeking out a healthy lifestyle to lose weight from having a baby. I reached my weight loss goal and was able to maintain that loss for 4 years upon getting pregnant again.

I left SparkPeople because of the fact that I had hit a wall. I needed a break. I needed to get my head put back on straight. I needed to be able to return to a weight loss mentality under the right terms. Doing so for health and sustainability. I am ready to approach weight loss now after my break. I am doing so with a different approach and a realistic and sustainable approach that equates to eating to fuel my body properly and encompassing all foods (yes, this even includes the less nutritionally dense foods).

I have spent a lot of time with Go Kaleo's group and re-learning to incorporate all foods in my diet and do so without guilt, shame and remorse. To do this, I have had to put my weight loss goals aside and relearn to establish my relationship with food and eating properly (read: enough and zero guilt) and working out with the right mindset. I have spent months learning to get enough sleep and just establish a trust with myself that has been lost through years of dieting.

It has been an eye opening experience, one that I needed to take on so I could focus on myself in the correct way. I am happy to be back on Spark and look forward to approaching my journey through new eyes, a new profile and a new approach to the lifestyle.

Until then, eat the food, lift the things, love the life!

Thanks so much for your great comments on my blog about my weight differential--you're pretty awesome too, Amber!

I spent a good part of the past year stressing over the fact that my weight was a bit higher than I would have ideally liked it to be, but seeing those pictures really helped me to put things in perspective. I'm healthy, strong and am continuing to show improvements even if the scale is actually up. This was an instructive moment for sure!

Hope you don't mind, I shared your most recent blog entry with my Biggest Loser team. I really think it is easy to get caught up in a magic number, especially in a team setting like that. Your message is so on target. Thanks again.
