My name is Malissa, and I live in the Dayton, Ohio area. I have been married for 7 years and have two daughters - Avery, almost 6, and Alicia, 18 months.

I used to be a very active person. When I was growing up, I went fishing and camping nearly every weekend with my Dad. I was on the swim team for several years. My name is Malissa, and I live in the Dayton, Ohio area. I have been married for 7 years and have two daughters - Avery, almost 6, and Alicia, 18 months.

I used to be a very active person. When I was growing up, I went fishing and camping nearly every weekend with my Dad. I was on the swim team for several years. I rode my bike everywhere, all over the Air Force base we were on at the time. Yet I was still chubby. I slendered down in Jr. High and went back up some in early High School, then slendered back down somewhat the summer before my senior year of High School. (Yikes!, 17 years ago!) After my Dad passed away, the pounds started creeping on. I had always been an emotional eater, but it got worse and I stopped being as active. I've gained and lost over the last several years, but always gained more than I lost. This time I am ready to do it for good!!! I am the heaviest I have ever been, and I don't want to stay here or get here again. My blood pressure is through the roof, my knees hurt, my back hurts, I always feel drained and like I don't have any energy. I am ready to change!

My Goals:
I would like to lose between 60 and 80 pounds, in order to be at a healthy weight for me.

I want to live a healthier and more active lifestyle.

I want my next pregnancy to be without weight-related complications.

I do not want to develop Type II diabetes like my mom.



My Program:
I am keeping track of what I eat, doing my best to make each day better than the previous.

I am doing more things outside.

I am exercising more.

I am encouraging my husband and my mom to join me on this journey.

I am making sure to remember my medications each day, and to monitor my blood pressure daily.

Hi Melissa! I saw your post to the Late Sign Up thread! Once a Mama ALWAYS a Mama is our policy, so we'd LOVE to have you join us for ROCK IT. You could start today, by making a Rock IT Bahama Mama tracker, and then stopping by the Mama team, and filling out the week's one and two introduction questions, and then posting to Bahama Mama team threads. You would have to start out as unofficial, (the ONLY difference between official and unofficial is who's points count on the Rock It spread sheet) but we'd expect you to do the challenge with us each week, track your points and weight, and that way, you'll be ready to replace an official girl, if they miss 3 weigh ins. Right now, we have two girls that we might have to officially replace on Sunday. It's up to you. Some people are ONLY motivated by knowing that they are official from day one. So if that's you, and you'd rather be on another team, let us know or let DANCINGEARTHMOM know by posting to the Late SIgn Up Thread again. Otherwise we 'll be looking forward to seeing you posting on the Mama team page.

Hey Malissa.. they changed my surgery date from April 13 to the 20th due to the unavailability of one of the Drs.. I am so excited! YOU will get there-- took me 3 months to get through the preliminaries.
