My name is Malissa, and I live in the Dayton, Ohio area. I have been married for 7 years and have two daughters - Avery, almost 6, and Alicia, 18 months.
I used to be a very active person. When I was growing up, I went fishing and camping nearly every weekend with my Dad. I was on the swim team for several years. I rode my bike everywhere, all over the Air Force base we were on at the time. Yet I was still chubby. I slendered down in Jr. High and went back up some in early High School, then slendered back down somewhat the summer before my senior year of High School. (Yikes!, 17 years ago!) After my Dad passed away, the pounds started creeping on. I had always been an emotional eater, but it got worse and I stopped being as active. I've gained and lost over the last several years, but always gained more than I lost. This time I am ready to do it for good!!! I am the heaviest I have ever been, and I don't want to stay here or get here again. My blood pressure is through the roof, my knees hurt, my back hurts, I always feel drained and like I don't have any energy. I am ready to change!
I would like to lose between 60 and 80 pounds, in order to be at a healthy weight for me.
I want to live a healthier and more active lifestyle.
I want my next pregnancy to be without weight-related complications.
I do not want to develop Type II diabetes like my mom.
I am keeping track of what I eat, doing my best to make each day better than the previous.
I am doing more things outside.
I am exercising more.
I am encouraging my husband and my mom to join me on this journey.
I am making sure to remember my medications each day, and to monitor my blood pressure daily.
