I'm a student who started a weight loss endeavor here in 2010 after losing a couple of pounds and wanting to keep that up. I've successfully taken off 40lbs from my highest weight since then, which was put on due to a chronic endocrine disorder where sufferers are commonly overweight or obese due to metabolic issues. Had I known concretely beforehand the weight was due to a chronic disorder instead of just overeating, I probably would have never had the courage to try and take it off in the first place, so there's only so much credit I can give myself there. But I'm happy to be where I am after spending my teens overweight. :) Guess it proves there's always a point to trying, even though there was certainly some luck on my side. I will most likely struggle with weight my entire adult life, and there will be ups and downs to it, but I understand it will take patience and optimism. I may not at all times have everything under control, but that is not a failure, only a good reason to try the best I can.

The hardest step for me mentally was acclimatizing more to maintenance and learning habits instead of "dieting" so I still remember to log when I need to be reminded of where I am, where I've been, and what I have to do to be the healthiest person I can be, despite whatever medical issues I have and where I am weight-wise. This is tough, but if it can be managed, all the better for it. I can't eat a half gallon of ice cream in one sitting without gaining an ounce as I used to be able to as a kid, but the silver lining is I'll be healthier in the long run than that ability would have afforded me.

    Hi
Glad to hear you understand things better now. All you have to do here is ask if you don't understand something. We are all here for each other and it's great. Notice I didn't say easy? LOL!:)) But it's worth the work. You will feel a lot better in general. Remember take it one day at a time. Don't get all caught up in every little detail. I speak from experience. If you bite off to much at one time it can get daunting. Exercise and be aware of what your putting in your mouth. Those are the most important things.
