I'm back! I'm now a Mama in my 30s, and ready for a huge change!

It's literally been almost six years since I last logged in to this site, and I am excited to have this space for myself again! SP was such a huge part of my life back then, and I think it'll always hold a very dear place in my heart.

Life is beautiful and crazy, and the past six years have brought lots of life (I now have two little boys, ages 4 and 8 months!), some loss (including a late miscarriage in-between those babies), and some serious life experiences (including postpartum depression, a graduate degree and new job). It also brought with it some physical weight.

Some history:

My family has a history of diabetes, heart and cholesterol issues. After watching my beloved Grandma die of complications due to a lifetime of diabetes, I've decided I'll do whatever it takes not to go that route.

Throughout the years I've always struggled with my weight. At my heaviest I was about 206 lbs as a senior in high school. That year I lost about 30 pounds at Curves. I got down to my goal weight of 140 lbs before getting pregnant for the first time in 2011. I'll be honest and tell you that I didn't do it in a fully healthy way. I underate (I was proud of only eating 900 calories) and overexercised (4+ hours/day, anyone?).

I am now back at my highest weight of 205 after having my second child and successfully nursing him exclusively (something I am very proud of, and was willing to keep some weight on for). He's now starting to eat (a lot of!) solids, so it's time for Mama to get back to a healthy weight.

I a ready to do this the right way this time by honoring my body rather than hating it. I signed up for Weight Watchers three weeks ago, and although it's a decent community, nothing beats this one, so I'm planning to do both for a while, until my WW membership stops, and then I plan on just Sparking! I'm always looking for new friends and people to share this experience with!

[ ] hike Waihe'e Ridge without stopping

[ ] hike Haleakala (with switchbacks)

[ ] deadlift my body weight

MAIN GOALS:

[ ] To be in the "healthy" BMI category (under 145 lbs)

[ ] become a certified yoga teacher


My Program:
NUTRITION: I eat a clean balanced diet full of vegetables and fruits, and try to stay away from sugar, dairy and wheat (I just feel better without them).

EXERCISE: I have little time to myself right now with two little guys, but I try to find time 5 days a week to walk hills in the morning. Once this is a habit, I'll add more to it again. I love weight training, kettlebells, hiking and swimming.

EMOTIONAL: I truly believe that I won't create sustainable weight loss if I don't work on myself spiritually + emotionally. I write daily and keep a wellness blog [greenplatedinners.wordpress.com].

I was born and raised on Maui in Hawai'i and went to college in Eugene, Oregon [GO DUCKS!]. I've since moved back home to the islands and married the love of my life. I have two beautiful boys, ages 4 and 8 months, and an amazing husband. I am finding my passions in life and becoming clearer on my life's purpose every single day.
