I turned 50 last year and have been trying to have a new start on life. I have been struggling with my weight since I was young and have successfully lost weight but have always gained it back. My biggest problem is being an emotional eater and not being able to kick that habit. Also getting myself motivated is hard especially when I have had to stop going to the gym due to frequent colds every month or two. It is always tough to get started again on exercising and eating properly.

Since joining this site and having this page I have lost weight but have also gained so I am still struggling but I am not giving up. I do my best to pick myself up if I fall down. My biggest problem though is the emotional rollercoaster that causes me to eat so I really need to fix this first and foremost and am trying different strategies in order to do that. I was seeing a counsellor once a week but she moved out of the city at the end of February so am looking for new outlets.

Let's hope that this time I will be successful.

My Goals:
To be able to lose what ever weight I need to lose in order to be healthy and to keep it off permanently.

My Program:
I will be watching my portion sizes and making sure I get in my proteins, vegetables, and fruits, and calcium and not overdoing my carbs. I will track my food on SP and do everything I can to stay within my calorie range.

For exercise I will go 3 times a week to the gym to do a 60 minute zumba class or a 30 minute cardio circuit followed by an abdominal, or body design class. I am working with a coach who has added some cross over crunches and crunches with a ball and also the treadmill. She is keeping me accountable.

I will also walk whenever I can and also take the stairs at every opportunity as long as I do not have heavy parcels.

For my emotional health I will write blogs and write on the message boards. I will also attend workshops and gettogethers and see if I can find some sort of group or counsellor who can help me out.
