Maia's Weight Loss Journey

In my first year on SparkPeople I gained 5 pounds even though my initial goal was to lose 50 pounds. I did lower my blood pressure from pre-hypertensive to normal so I am going to go with that!

I am now in my third year on SparkPeople and have accomplished some life goals and lost the five pounds I had gained as well as the thirty-five more on top of that and then ten more. Oh, well. As my good SparkFriend says, progress not perfection.

My Goals:
If I continue at my current rate I could be down ten pounds to 225 by the end of 2011. I'll take it!

People often list goals and rewards here but in a year I haven't thought of any rewards that are not food-related so this part of the site remains under construction.



My Program:
I am starting with the FastBreak to ease into it but I know some serious nutritional makeovers are in the offing!

Update 5/6/10: I am finding that I can eat everything I like but MODERATION is key. I am struggling with emotional overeating as well as disorganization.

Update 1/14/11: Sadly, this is still where I'm at.

On plan I drink 8 glasses of water and track

eat at least 5 servings of fruits/vegetables and track

eat between 1500-1700 calories average per day and track

earn 90+ fitness minutes a week and track

weigh myself once a week and track

post a bragging/regretful blog once a week after weigh-in

set goals for each month and track

Off plan is a series of unfortunate events but I am still doing better than before SparkPeople in 2010!

Personal Information:
I live in northern California

I have a BA in biology from University of California Santa Cruz.

I have no kids, no pets, no houseplants (except one small planter full of succulents and cacti. It has to stay outdoors. I'm not running a botanical garden for wayward plantae here.)

Great work friend!!! I try to stay positive but i fall into self loathing mode!! i know I dont look "bad" i just get annoyed i dont have a 6 pack yet!! maybe excessive Merlot is to blame emoticon Keep on keepin on peep!
