My name is Mags. I'm 27 years old and have been working on living a healthier life since March 2009. Prior to joining SP mid-January 2010, I managed to lose 24 lbs and 18". I joined with the intent of losing 8 lbs to reach my original goal weight; I reached it on March 2nd, 2010! Upon reaching my original goal weight, I changed focus from the number on the scale to fat loss. By October 2010, I had lost 40 lbs.
Now, in January 2013, I’ve gone through a number of major changes. …and through all of these changes, I’ve gained 18 lbs and I’m once again seeing numbers on the scale I thought I’d left behind for good. I miss being in the best shape of my life. Not just the way I looked (I still look pretty good!), but also the way I felt. I had more energy, I was making better choices, and I was taking care of myself so that I wouldn’t suffer in the future. I’m bound and determined to get back there this year.
After starting my weight loss journey in March '09, I started looking into my family's history of health issues. My overall intention is to have a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and exercise - I do not want to have to deal with heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, blood pressure, or blood sugar, stroke, etc, etc, etc. As long as I can eat healthfully, exercise regularly, live actively, and stay well within a healthy BMI, I should be able to avoid most, if not all, of these issues.
