There are just two Options...

This has been my personal motto from the beginning. I have two options... I can do this and stick to it... or I can go back and do what I was doing before. There can be only two outcomes... either I get where I wanna be, because I "know" it works, or I can gain the weight back, sacrifice all the hard work I've put into this, and more importantly give up my dream of being fit and healthy.

I really think this is what has made this time work for me. That and the fact that I'm not ...

I really think this is what has made this time work for me. That and the fact that I'm not doing some radical diet that isn't do-able in the long run.

I found this quote on RIZOMOMOF4'S SparkPage, who found it on ANG76H's SparkPage... I really think it's something to remember...

It's not always been easy and in the beginning I had days when I just wanted to cry and give into the cravings... but then I'd remember that I have just two options to consider, and thankfully, that helped me to stand firm... but to also learn what I can do to make it easier. Veggies are real helpful when you're stomach needs to be filled, and your calorie budget is in jeopardy!

This journey has been a real eye opener for me... discovering just how many calories are in the foods I'd been eating, and finding better options. I've always had a great interest in health and feeding my body right... so I've over the past year I've grown into a diet that contains a lot of fruits and veggies. But I also make sure to have "treats" as well. Now I just make sure they are a better alternative treat... like Dutch Chocolate yogurt ice cream, instead of normal ice cream... or an Oh Yeah protein bar instead of a chocolate bar. You'd be surprised at how good these options taste!

As I've progressed I've moved my goal line. I started with something I thought "yeah right, we'll see", but that I knew to be attainable, and when I got there, I moved it back 10 lbs, and recently moved it again another 5. We'll see where it ends up, but sometimes it's easier if we're not looking at the big picture.

Here are some changes I've noticed to date...
- Lost 61 lbs
- Biggest measurement loss is 6.5" (but I didn't start measuring until 1.5 months into the weight loss, so who knows just how big the number *really* is)
- No longer clearing my throat all the time.
- More peaceful.... yet gaining energy and starting to encorporate jogging in my walks.
- Pant size went from 16-18 to 4-6
- Shirt size went from XL to Small.
- Ring size went from a 6.5 to a 5.5
-Used to need baggy clothes to feel right, now I feel better in a tighter fit.
- Can run up a flight of stairs without getting winded, and before I would be winded after just 5-6 steps.
- Enjoying movement now, and *want* to be active.
- Not experiencing aches and pains like I used to, or as often as I used to.
- Haven't had a headache in...
- Definately have more self confidence.
- Relations with hubby are *much* improved.

My puppers have been invaluable at helping to keep the daily activity up... those big brown eyes, who could resist!! Also invaluable has been SparkPeople.Com, and everyone here who helps to encourage and support me each and every day... thank you!!!!

My Program:
I'm trying to stay on the low end of my calorie range, and burn as many cals as I can thru exercise (mainly walking and stationary biking.) Also trying to really nourish my body through whole, healthy foods.

Personal Information:
I live in Ontario, Canada, with my hubby of 5 years, house full of fluff-bums. My biggest joy in life is doing things and going places with my Goldens... they inspire me everyday with their zest for life!!

Your page intro really spoke to me. I am struggling so much to fight the fight to be healthier/fit. But you are right, we only have 2 choices. I don't want to stay where I am....so there's only the other option.
