Hey now, I have seen "older" people do wonderful things in their advanced age! I say it is never too late! Unless you are like 90 and want to learn how to like figure skate on top of a mountain that you just climbed all by yourself - that probably wouldn't be a good idea to try.

How are you doing these days miss? Better I hope?

Major correction regarding the size of the FitBit Zip - I totally misread the size specs! Good thing I saw a huge display of all the body monitor trackers at Best Buy tonight. To make the sizes a bit clearer, try to picture it this way: about 4 FitBit Zips and 3 FitBit Ones will roughly equal the size of 1 BodyMedia.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the GREAT question! I have been researching body monitors myself lately, as well.

To narrow down the field for you just a bit, I have a feeling that you're going to want to choose between the two monitors that link directly with Spark People, either the FitBit or the BodyMedia. Polar is an excellent option if you are a more experienced athlete and want to study SPECIFICALLY heart rate monitoring. If you're not, choose between FitBit or BodyMedia.

BodyMedia enjoys a lot of popularity because it is featured on THE BIGGEST LOSER. It tracks multiple health data points, namely steps traveled & activities accomplished, calories burned, and quality of sleep. It is easy to use, interfaces with your smartphone via Bluetooth, if you have one (this is only available on the LINK model), or an optional display (CORE model, costs extra). BodyMedia is highly accurate, but requires the use of their online activity manager (3 months free with purchase, then $6.95/month thereafter) to fully analyze and track your data points. It also syncs (for free) with Spark People, Run Keeper, My Fitness Pal, and Earnd It. The price of the BodyMedia is fairly high for a device of this type; the LINK retails for $149, although is currently on sale through their website for $119. The CORE is normally $119, on sale now for $99. The optional display monitor for the CORE is normally $49, on sale for $29. The only real difference between these two models is the Bluetooth capability, although it's worth it, if you have a smart phone. One big con for this one (besides the price) is that I feel it is rather bulky and may feel uncomfortable to wear throughout the day, particularly if you have a professional job where this would seem out of place. Of course, wearing it only during certain times (when you are not in a work setting) is an option, but really defeats the purpose of constant monitoring.

The other popular option is FIT BIT. Fit Bit currently has two model options, with a third about to be released this spring, as well as its own version of a scale that not only measures weight, BMI, and body fat %, but also discreetly detects up to 8 unique users. Here's the breakdown of the 3 Fit Bit models (all very easy to use):
ZIP - Tracks steps, distance, and calories burned. About the same size as the BodyMedia, but has the ability to be clipped and does not need to be worn on the upper arm like the BMed. Retails for $59.95
ONE - Tracks steps, distance, calories burned, floors climbed, and sleep cycles. Significantly smaller than either the BMed or Zip. Can safely be slipped into a pocket or inside work clothes without anyone knowing that you're tracking! Also comes with a wristband that you slip the One into while you're sleeping. Retails for $99.95
FLEX - Their newest product, currently available for pre-order. This aims to be their most comprehensive tracker and will monitor steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, active minutes, hours slept, and quality of sleep. It is an adjustable wristband and looks similar to the "message bracelets" that people often wear. Comes in black or dark blue; very discreet. Retails for $99.95.

Although not necessary in order to utilize all options, there is a premium option for tracking that does offer significant upgrades for $49.99/year. These upgrades include: premium reporting on activity, food, and sleep, as well as a personal digital trainer, advanced heart rate monitor and unlimited blood glucose tracking (especially handy if you're diabetic). You will be given an opportunity to try the premium service for a trial period before being obligated to purchase.

FitBit is also partnered with significantly more companies, making it a more flexible option if you utilize tracking websites other than Spark People. Lose It, My Fitness Pal, Microsoft Health Vault, Digifit, Map My Run, EarndIt, Endomondo, Health Month, About.Me (by AOL), FitBit Daemon (syncing with Nike+), Every Move, Tactio Health, Fit Bolt, Sleep Debt, Macaw, Trend Weight, Fit Kit, Fit Tap, and Calorie 3 are ALL free syncing options, that also have the added benefit of being available as apps for your smartphone, making seeing and tracking data for FitBit ridiculously easy.

If you can hold out for awhile, I really recommend waiting for the FitBit Flex. If you just simply can't wait to get started with oodles of analytics NOW, get the FitBit One. Not only are both packed with features, but they're discreet and offer the best bang for your buck.

Hi, saw your comments on BOTZZZ's page about green tea & thought I'd drop by to put in my 2 cents worth LOL

I've been drinking green tea for a couple of years now thanks to Tony. I remember him talking about his new tea maker & I thought I'd get one and try to get off my coke addiction. And it worked!! I fell in love with my Mr Coffee Tea Maker. However it took awhile for me to find a green tea that I liked. I finally found a Lipton with Lemon that i loved but they stopped making it :( And then i found Luzianne Green Tea & that is what I've been dirnking everyday since. My hubby even likes it now!

It's really amazing that we drink the stuff unsweetened-being from the South, we loved our sweet tea LOL
