I can now finally say that I'm finally taking care of me. I've controlled everything around me (my home, kids, job, etc ) for so long that I'd lost myself. Time to put myself as a higher priority. I need to be here for my kids and things (COPD, stomach and esophageal issues, arthritis, blood work, heredity, etc) weren't looking too hot. Many of my health issues are chronic and not going away. However, the symptoms could be greatly relieved by my actions (or lack thereof, with regard to stuffing my face).
My best friend introduced me to SP in 2010 and I joined but did nothing with it until January 2011. Had a great first 6 months but then lost interest. I have to regain the interest and motivation. Time to care about ME so that I can care about everyone and everything else. But, I slacked. Out of necessity, I made some decisions and have drastically changed my way of living.

My bestest friend has made amazing and almost unreal changes in her life, losing over half of her body weight and is so close to her goal I can taste it... She is my inspiration.

My Goals:
Lose weight to help me feel more confident which will also help me be a better wife and mom.

Revised plan (and yet again) to keep myself on track:
192 pounds by 6/2/14
175 by 9/30/14
165 by 12/30
160 by 3/28/15


My Program:
My diet had improved but I got distracted. Again. I need to get started again. I must watch portion control and late night snacking. I must plan ahead!!

I also MUST FORCE myself to exercise.

My name is Melissa and I'm 37 years old. I live south of Pittsburgh. I have been married to the love of my life for 13 years. We have five children (3 biological and two adopted) - ALL BOYS. I have a master's degree in nursing/health care education and work with foster kids.


Other Information:
I love to travel. We go to the outer banks every summer. I look for any excuse in the world to go visit my best friend in Erie. Christmas is my favorite holiday.

    emoticon You win the prize! You have a great eye! Those are P.Buckley Moss prints on my walls! Twenty-four of them anyway! Five of them are Lisa Geiman's. She a local artist from the same area that Moss is from. I used to be from the same area, thus my interest in both artists. For several years, I was a member of the Moss Society, but had so many prints, I stopped collecting. Now, I have more wall space and am tempted to join again. LOL!
