My Son Is My Number One Motivation

Hi! My name is Amy and I'm 30 years old and a mom to my 19 month old son. I've been at the same weight since I've had him and I'm sooo ready to lose it. I'm about 50 lbs overweight. I would like to run and play with my son without feeling winded every 5 minutes. I'm on a track to get healthy. Both for me and my family and my son is my number one motivation!

My Goals:
My long term goal is to lose 50 lbs in six months. I wanna get my diabetes (type 1) under control and to be healthy so I can be around for my son.

Another goal is, I just wanna enjoy shopping again. I used to love it, now it just makes me miserable.
Recentley, my mom took me out for my 30th birthday to buy a new outfit. The clothes that I found cute enough to try on, didn't fit and just made me depressed the rest of the day.
I'm tired of being overweight and unhappy. I'm putting my foot down and am taking charge of my life, right now.

My Program:
I've tried so many diets and bought millions of weight loss books, I should be the prime example of great health, but I'm not. Truth is, I can't do this alone. I need help, and it's hard for me to admit that. I've joined spark people mostly for the support.

My fitness goals -

- 30 min walk every day
- 30 minutes on the elliptical 3-4 days a week
- Strength training with my dumbbells and resistance band 3-4 days a week
- Play and run around with my son every day

My nutrition goals -

Follow the diabetic meal plan, which allows me 1200-1500 calories a day.
I'm drinking my 8 glasses of water a day. I've given up soda. When I did drink soda, it would always be diet, but I know that it's not really healthy, either. I'm sure I'll drink soda again, but so far it's been 2 1/2 weeks without it, so I wanna see how long can go with that streak.
Instead, I dink water, water with lemon, flavored water and unsweetened ice tea.

Hi there! Thanks for the add emoticon . I agree with you, i think PB is the best guilty food around. emoticon You'll find lots of support around here. Diabetes is a day by day challenge for me, some days are great, the others are not that good " just give me a jar of PB"! emoticon
