I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!!! It's time to get healthy...

January 18, 2011 update: After falling off the rails big time, I joined a Rosemary Conley diet and exercise class yesterday. I'm trying really hard to get back on track and not wallow in self pity over putting so much weight back on.

May 20, 2010 update: I've strayed and put some weight back on, but I'm back on track now. I will carry on with this journey and I WILL SUCCEED!!!!

October 6, 2009 update: I'm down a total of 37.2 lbs now! I'm going to the gym regularly and have made a number of positive changes to my lifestyle. My blood pressure is normal again also. It had been high to mildly elevated for the past 10 years. I'm quite happy with my progress. :)

August 4. 2009 update: I'm still plugging away. I'm now down a total of 24.2 lbs. It hasn't been easy because life has thrown various obstacles at me as life tends to do... However, I keep picking myself up, dusting myself off and proceeding with my journey.

Yesterday I started a gym program which includes cardio and strength training. The program should help a lot with toning and inch loss. I will reach my goals!

June 23, 2009 update: I've been involved with Sparkpeople for 5 weeks now and have lost 15.4 lbs. I've met some amazing people from various continents who are on the same journey as I. I'm involved in the Summer Sizzler's challenge on Team 300 Plus, which is helping to keep me motivated this summer. I still have a long road ahead, but my life is certainly headed in the right direction now!!! I've even tried belly dancing classes!!!! Wow!

My Goals:
1. Be able to buckle an airline seatbelt again without having to ask for an extension.

2. Be able to walk continuously for one hour without having pain in my knees, ankles and hips.

3. For once in my life, know what it feels like *not* to have my thighs rub together.

4. Be able to keep up with my husband when we're on holiday and out and about.

5. Be able to buy clothes in a regular shop, not one specialising in plus sizes.


My Program:
Eat healthily but allow myself treats.

Various activities including:

Aqua Aerobics
Swimming
Gym programme with cardio and strength training elements
Nordic Walking when my Achilles tendon isn't causing me problems

(Gym programme was added in August 2009 to incorporate strength training and additional cardio).

Middle aged American lady (from Georgia) happily married to a wonderful Englishman. Have been living in Liverpool, England area for the past 14 years.

Beatles fan, cat lover, enjoy crochet, knitting and reading. I'm also learning to sew on my new sewing machine.
