I'm married without any kids, work in the oil field and work way to many hours. Right now I'm in an office position that at least gives me a schedule, however, I'm taking online classes which seem to take up most of my free time.

Normally when I'm in the field I'm away from home for weeks at a time living in hotels or camps. The longest I've been away was 6 weeks straight. The problem I have is trying to eat healthy when on the road. Many of the towns we have to stay in are very small and don't offer many choices of restaurants. We spent 33 days in a town that only had a local pub, an A&W, Subway and a Dairy Queen!!! Plus when on the road we usually work 10-12 hour days and its not realistic to be eating lots of small meals throughout the day. I usually dont have supper until late etc...

I am making the best of this time I have in the office to try and get on track. I am eating a lot better and keeping track of everything I put in my mouth. I was trying to get to my local gym and do the classes I love to do 4-5 times a week but it just wasn't happening with my class workload. We have a small gym at our office which I've been trying to use 4 days a week. Once a week we all go out for vietnamese food at lunch, its my treat, since I'm doing that and skipping out on happy hour after work every Friday.

I have lost 12lbs since Jan 1, 2011 but seem to have hit a plateau. I have heard that running might help to get over the plateau so I have started C25K and have just completed week 2.

So far so good, hoping to keep up with these life changes and once I go back to the field sometime after May 1st i really hope to continue on this path. It will be challenging but its something I've just gotta do!

My Goals:
New Short term goal!!! burn 3500 calories a week working out, lose 5 lbs by the end of the year. So 5lbs in just over 6 weeks.

Get to a BMI where I'm considered healthy, in my case that would be 159lbs or less.

My Program:
When I'm in town I do 4 to 5 classes a week at the gym. I work in the oilfield and can be away for weeks at a time, which makes eating right and exercising difficult.

I wish I'd tried Bodypump sooner too! I'd be really buff by now, haha. I'm glad I'm not the only crazy person too scared to try classes alone. I'd love to try some of the other Les Mills classes but the only other one at my gym is Bodyflow which isn't really my thing. Well, I've never tried it but I'm not much into yoga. I'd rather do combat or RPM!

You rock Wendy! I'm very motivated after reading your Sparkpage. So glad you found that Spark People was a better tracker. It's more of a community. Great job on the 12 lbs since January, not an easy task! emoticon

Thanks for the comment on my blog! Yes I just did C25K to begin my running habit. At first it seemed impossible, but as the weeks went on, it became more and more doable. The scariest week was the first 20 minute straight run, but once I finished it, it's an amazing experience!

    Good luck with it!!!
