Here's to do-overs.
Since I have Celiacs, I can't eat any wheat (breads, pasta, etc) dairy, soy, or eggs. That takes out a lot of sweets and carbs for me so it's hard to eat that badly. I'm a pretty low volume eater anyway, but I really need to add more veggies and fruits to my diet. Since starting a gluten free diet Feb 2011, I finally can exercise again.
Because I was eating so much food I couldn't digest, and the only thing I could really process was meat, and my estrogen levels were 1,000 times (that is literal, not a joke) higher than normal, my body was very good at making and storing fat. My cholesterol was through the roof, but I was anemic in pretty much all of my vitamin and electrolyte levels. I didn't figure this out til a year ago. I was basically the chubbiest malnourished person out there.
Late in 2010 I was getting ready for a 10K only a few months after doing my first 5k, and thought I was going to have a heart attack. I was also suffering from severe muscle cramps throughout my whole body at random times throughout the day/night, hair loss, heart palpitations and extreme fatigue.
All that is gone now that I am absorbing my vitamins with no gluten in my diet, but I also gained a lot of weight since I am absorbing everything I eat again. Ready to lose that weight, plus 15 or so pounds I was trying to lose a year and a half ago when my health started getting really bad.
My ultimate goals are to get into a healthy body fat range, which is about 6% less than now. Ideally losing 8-12% body fat would really be awesome, but I'm good with healthy after all the issues I have had the last few years.
Doing another 5k soon would be fantastic. I'm reallllly hoping I can do the Rock the Parkway 5k in April, and the 10K at Hospital Hill in June, but if I can't get in shape enough that soon just doing the 5K at HH in June will be awesome. I have to be careful not to push too hard, or I could have a return of muscle cramps and hair loss. And lets face it, I'd rather be fat than have bald spots. LOL
My health issues-
PCOS (possibly, tests are inconclusive but lean more towards me having it)
Blood Sugar Issues- They haven't decided if I am pre-diabtec, or if I have insulin resistance thanks to the PCOS. Either way, losing weight will help me feel better with all of these conditions, reduce symptoms, rid myself of blood sugar highs&lows (hello moodswings) and ultimately return my estrogen levels to normal (moodswings again) so maybe I could have a baby, if I wanted to, still on the fence about that. =) But if I lost even 6% of my body fat, they may quit thinking I'm prediabetic or that I don't have PCOS, so that would basically erase 2 of the issues I have.

Getting started on the exercise bandwagon. The biggest hurdle I have is sticking to my diet. Going to buckle down on that and stick to one cheat day a week. This has worked for me in the past.

I have Celiac Disease too, plus 9 of my family members have it as well...I find it makes balanced eating REALLY difficult! Especially in the "whole grain" department! :(
