Hi I am Bernadette and in the process of losing extra unwanted and un-needed weight... I fell in 2001 and injured my neck, right arm and right ankle. This fall has left me disabled and in constant pain. I gained 150 lbs after my injury which made things much worse. Because my ankle was never properly been taken care of (due to WC issues) I fell again in 2006 this time I reinjured my right arm causing more damage to the elbow severly limiting use, and had to have a radial head replacement in the left arm. I spent a month in the hospitol and wc still has not agreeded to fix my ankle. Because of the weight gain I started to have trouble with my knees, but since I have lost some of the weight that problem has stopped. Exercise is my biggest problem because of the increase pain it causes. So I am trying to walk 10 minuetes at a time several times a day. I am trying hard to walk through the pain. Lots of ice packs and tenns unit really help with this.

I have five wonderful children, one grand-daughter and one due in August, so I have many blessings and reasons to get healthy and stay that way.... Losing 79 lbs more for a extended life time with them is well worth the effort.

    try power walking first, take it slow, Running is not that important, you can get just as much exercise walking as running, try walking at a regular pace and then step it up for a while then slow down again then speed up do this your whole walk , this tends to burn more calories and is better for your heart. Runners develope all kinds of leg and knee problems because of the impact. you can carrie light weights in your hands and swing your arms . You can even get ankle weights if you like. good luck take care of those knees... emoticon

    Happy New Year!!! I'm off and running. Well, not really. It's always been my dream to run. I am going to try to get someone to teach me how. I can't breathe when I start running. So, I need someone to teach me how. Maybe, one of the coaches at work (school) will be willing to teach me. That's my goal. I don't have to run a marathon or anything. I just want to run. I want to see how it feels.

    What are you doing for exercise? I'm walking most days but was wondering what you were doing for exercise. I hope, I have as much success as you. I was 314 and now I'm at 181 since, January. I'm using the pouch rules and am doing well. I know no two people are alike but I thought I would lose more weight than I'm actually losing. What are your thoughts on this?
