Let's get healthy and lose some weight!

Hi, my name is Lynn. I started this life syle change journey with SparkPeople on January 29, 2008.
I've been battling this weight for a long time. The past 5 years I've put on about 10+ pounds every year and now it's time to STOP the madness!!

3/1/2013 - 180 gained another 8 pounds since Aug 2012. Time to get back into gear!!! 1st goal to be down to 157 by August 9th. That is only 1 pound a week - - very doable!!!

Did RAGBRAI again this year - 520 mile bike ride across Iowa.
After RAGBRAI I've starting slipping as far as activity.
Did the State fair and also didn't do so well there. Normally I get a lot more walking in, but this year I did not.
I do weigh myself every week on my wii so I do have ups and downs during this time - - mostly ups... Too many sweets - - too many carbs. Ready to get back on track!!

2011 Goal - I would really like to be down to my goal weight by the end of the year, but I'm going to take this one step at a time.
Goal #1 - Be in the 180's by Feb 2011.

Jan 28, 2011 - 190 Was looking for the 180's but hopefully next week, as my goal was to be in the 180's by Feb. Had my 1st Zumba class tonight!! What a workout! I feel great!
Feb 4, 2011 - 188.5 YES!!! 180's!!! It's been awhile! No turning back!!! I'm on may way now...
Feb 11 - 188.5 no weight loss/ or gain!
Feb 18 - 186.5 -2 =D

Feb 25 184.5 -2 :D I'm heading for the 170's!!! YES!
Mar 04 185.6 +1 Very little exercise this week due to 2 funerals (will do better next week! Still heading for the 170's)
Mar 11 - down at the State basketball games. Weighed in at the Hotel and weighted 184.4. When I got home on Monday, my scale said 185.5 so not sure if the scale was a 1 off or if I gained a pound in a day! Could have been - I had salty popcorn at the game, etc...
I'll just mark it down as 185.5 and see how it goes next week...
Mar 18 - 181.5 - Did a week of cycle 1 and good exercise all week (4 hours total this week)
Can't wait to be in the 170's!!!!! I should make my April goal for sure!
Mar 25 - 181.5 - stayed the same... that's okay cuz I didn't feel like I worked very hard this week. Eating was okay and exercise was down... Other than my 1 hour zumba tonight, I've only got in 1 1/2 hours.
April 1 - 145!!! April fools! : ) Okay really 180.5 less than a pound away from getting to the 170's. I should make my April goal.
Update: I have lost 22.5 pounds since starting the 17 day diet in December (So close to being overweight vs. obese) : ) Since starting the 100 day Live Healthy Iowa challenge on January 20th, I've lost 10 pounds
April 8 - 180.5 - no weight loss. I'm going to have to shake it up a bit!! Really I was glad I didn't gain. Was out of town for business 2 days this week. I did good eating on the road.
April 15 - 179.7 - Yeah in the 170's (by a pinch) but there none the less. Could I possibly be in the 160's by June?? We'll see (That would be awesome!)
April 19 - Went to the dr. today and weighed 82 Kilograms = 180.4 (with clothes on) Normally I weigh w/out close so my scale is pretty darn close!
April 22 - 178.1 - I need to start exercising... My exercising has consisted of 2-3 times a week walking tape with Leslie Sansone and Friday Zumba. I would like to get in more cardio! I was sick yesterday and I do think some of the weight loss was due to that. Hopefully I won't gain it back!!
May 6 - 176 - I'm pretty excited about that. I was out of town for 2 days (eating out) Made good choices but still worried about not losing any weight! WooHoo...
I am almost overweight instead of obese!!!
May 13 - 176 - actually the scale said 175.9 but I'll round up. HA
May 20 - 174 - Officially Overweight vs. Obese!! What a great feeling! Hurray for me!!!
May 27 - 174 - that's okay... but would LOVE to be in the 160's by July!! So my next goal is to be in the 160's by July... So doable!!!!
June 3 - 174 - no change again. Going to have to kick it into gear if I want to make the 160's by July!!! I CAN DO THIS!!
June 10 - 172.6 - Did a little better this week... :)
June 17 - 170.2 - Should be able to make the 160's by July!!! Maybe even ahead of schedule! That'd be GREAT!
June 24 - 172 - 1st gain since December... : ( Got to get back on track!!
July 1 - 170.2 - Back to 170.2... again close to the 160's!! (I CAN do this!)
July 8 - 168 (OH, yes I can!!) Met my July goal!
35 pounds since Dec 14th... (I think I've finally got it)
Next goal to be in the 150's by September. Hopefully sooner but I'll stick to 2 months.
July 15 - 167.8 - .20 loss this week... better than a gain! :)
July 22 - 166.4 - Slowly but surely...
July 29 - was on Ragbrai but when I got back, I weighed myself on our regular scale and gained 2 pounds... How can you gain weight riding a bike for 6 hours a day in the heat and humidity?? Better have been muscle gain!
Aug 5 - 166 - back down
Aug 11 - 165.3 went to state fair... wish me luck!!!
Aug 26 - 164.5 - Back from the state fair and traveling to Brookings for work. Not bad. The next several weeks I'll be traveling some, so I want to make sure I make good choices and continue to my Sept goal to be in the 150s... Plus, I really missed Zumba for the past 2 weeks! Can't wait for tonight!
Sept 2 - 162.7 - Getting close to the 150's by Sept. I have another goal to lose 15 pounds by Oct 31. I'm going to give it my best!

Sept 16 - 168 - Yes a 4+ pound gain!!! Yikes! I did eat extra but I did exercise 45 minutes on Monday & Tuesday and we walked on Sunday - I either gained a little muscle or too many calories. Will hopefully do better this next week (still traveling - - one more week)
Sept 23 - 163.4 - I worked hard this week... :)
Sept 30 - 162.9 - Little by little... I started kick boxing on Monday nights now. Hopefully I'm out of my gaining rut. So now I'm doing Zumba Friday's and Kick Boxing Monday's :D. I really want to be in the 150's by Oct.
Oct 7 - 164.9 - I didn't expect a 2 pound gain!! I did do Zumba and Kickboxing & treadmill while traveling... I suppose the breaded fish probably wasn't the best choice.
Oct 14 - 165.1 - I really thought I might gain another 2 pounds again this week after last weekend, but I only gained .02 whoot whoot - maybe last week was alittle muscle?? However, I really need to get back on the band wagon again... I wanted to be in the 150's by Oct I could still do it if I really, really work hard. We'll see.
Oct 21 - 166 - Ugh!!
Oct 28 - 166.2 - :( Okay setting a new goal. I'm kind of at a plateau so I need to kick it up a notch! My 4th goal of this year wasn't met! Booooooooo Going to put it past me and go on to goal #5.

Nov 24 - 165.6 - yeah a loss finally!! Heading out to shop for the Thanksgiving weekend. (I will try to make good food choices. I signed up for 3 1 hour fitness classes a week. Zumba, Kickboxing, Kettlebell, etc.

Dec 9 - 167.3 I don't feel I've been terrible; however the sweets are so tempting and I just can't resist! This week no sweets!! On Dec 10th last year I weighed 204 so in one year I have lost 36.7 pounds. Didn't quite make my goal, but I feel good about the loss! I've been sitting in the upper 160's since July. I got down to 162.7, but have crept my way back up... I know I need to change something up. I started the fitness center 3 days a week and will try to ride by bike the other 2 days or more. Maybe try the Pink method...

Starting Iowa Healthy Living with some girls at work. We have 2 teams of 6 and will be competing against each other. I started at 212 on January 20th. Its a challenge from January 14 - April 23. Our goal is to exercise more and lose weight.
We started the challenge a little late on Jan 20th.

Well, I haven't been on for awhile but that doesn't mean I haven't been working on this weight loss!!
I do have my calculations in my WII, and have lost 9 more pounds as of last week...
Yeah - down to 199. Now if I can just stay in onederland!! Seriously don't want to go back!!
One thing I've learned is I gotta work at this. It doesn't come easy.

Went on Ragbrai and rode aprox. 465 miles. The ride was 442, but I rode extra to our host houses, etc. It was a great ride. This was my 3rd time riding every mile across Iowa!!
A week 1/2 after Ragbrai, I spent 11 days at the Iowa State fair. I work at the turkey grill every year. I usually lose a couple of pounds while I'm at the fair due to all the walking. I did do a lot of walking but only lost 1 pound this time. Maybe a few too many goodies... :)
Now - - - back to the grindstone!!! Time to lose some more!! Next goal... 185 by November 1st!!
Back up over 200 once again! Arughhhhhhhhh!!!
This is such hard work! I can remember when I was young and I could lose it so much faster... Darn metabolism!!! When am I going to love exercise??

Well, I ended the year with about a 17 pound loss thanks partly to the 17 day diet. For the 1st cycle of the 17 day diet, I lost 8 pounds. I just need to continue. Winter is hard for me so that is why I decided I just couldn't do it alone and the 17 day diet is working so far...

Okay, I'm doing the St. Joes Hospital Medical Center Special Diet. Starting 2/8/09 - I weighed in this morning at 203. I need a boost!
I have been walking daily for at least 45 - 60 minutes. I would rather be walking outside, but will do the walking tapes until it's warm enough to go back outside. I should have went for a walk yesterday, but didn't......
2/9/09 - I weighed in at 199 this morning. The St. Joe's Diet is a pretty low calorie diet so I better have lost some pounds... looks like 4 pounds in 2 days. I just needed a boost. Also did a 3 mile walking tape on Monday and the 4 mile walking tape tonight. Now I need to continue to log food and make sure I keep my calories in check.....

My name is Lynn.
I am 51 years old and have been married now for 31 year to my wonderful husband Dennis. We have 3 great boys and 4 beautiful grandchildren. We live in the country near Storm Lake, IA. Storm Lake is in NW Iowa. It's a town of about 10,00 people.

Other Information:
I love to shop.

Garage sales, Goodwill, & Flea Markets are great places to find great treasures!

I ride my bike - rode on RAGBRAI for about 10+ years - all the way across Iowa = 4 times now.

How was the state fair? In time there was an obit for the lady who did the butter sculptures.

Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog. I have not been doing well this past week with food. I need to get back on track! I haven't exercised as much as I usually do, either.
I was so glad to see your snowman picture when I read the responses to my blog!
