Ok, It's now April, 2013... 4 years since I first joined SP. And only 14 pounds lighter!! Kind of sad, but I guess I could be 14 pounds HEAVIER right? In the interim, I have been trying WW, with no great success. I have no thyroid due to cancer, so my endocrine system is a challenge to say the least. Not a good fit for losing weight. But I am giving it my all. I have to. I have a few other challenges as well, such as feet that were damaged from surgery, and a bad knee that needs surgery. LOL! I am trying to avoid that at all costs by going to the gym and doing strength training to strengthen the muscles to take the load off my knee. Always something when you get old! I am looking for support from my fellow Sparkies! Anyone in Ct especially that can maybe meet up would be even better. I am currently unemployed looking for work. Not too optimistic in Ct., but again. I am doing my best to keep trying:)
I look forward to meeting up with old friends on here and hopefully meeting some new ones!

My goals are to get my life back to the "me I was 8 years ago, before all the chaos set in" I believe when the weight starts to shed.. the person will emerge. I have a lot of healing to do. Both physical and emotional.
I am sticking to a diet of below 1600 calories and going to the gym. I have a personal trainer so I do stength training 3 days a week, and have enjoyed learning Zumba, which I try to do 2 days a week. Zumba is very hard on my feet which give me pain, but I do my best:). I need to build up my strength as well as lose weight.
I live in North Haven, Ct. I am VERY patriotic. I have three kids and two step kids My youngest daughter is also a member of SP. My son is a nurse at Backus hospital in Norwich, and my oldest daughters lives in Texas with her boyfriend and the newest member of our family, my granddaughter, Annabelle. She is a veteran of the US Army and I am very proud of her as I am all of our men and women in uniform. Our family has been hit by tragedy a few times. My Grandmother was killed by a drunk driver, my daughter's fiance was killed in the war in Iraq. All the soldiers are my family..no matter what your feelings about the war, please support our soldiers:) It is because of them, we have our freedom.
I am a volunteer for Soldiers Angels. Check it out below:)
It's the little things in life that make me smile.
First and foremost my kids:)
Second, I love music and probably can find a song for every memory in my life..good and bad.
Gardening is my passion...Flowers make me smile:)
I also enjoy nature, esp. birds.. feeding them and housing them.

Hi. Lynn! Thanks for stopping by my page. I sent you a "grill" goodie but I guess it got lost, I don't see it! Anyway~yes we do have a lot in common. You are doing well at being down 14 lbs., I am only down 4 lbs. since Halloween 2010. Honestly it IS true that we're better off than gaining, though. I'm picking up speed now and am determined to get to final goal by my next Birthday, a year away. Oh by the way I looked through your photo gallery and my husband and I were at Lady and Sons last September. We took a long road trip back to Asheville, NC where my son lives. We did a planned detour on the way and headed down to Savannah for a few days. Beautiful and charming there! Everyone "loved" our accents hahaha. (of course we didn't think we had one lol) We did one of those Paula Deene tour things, so we ate downstairs and there was a little stage show, it was fun. I'm still using some of the Paula spices that I bought in a little shop on the waterfront. Well best to you on your weight loss journey, let's get this done
together! ~Sandi (had to edit for spelling and think I still missed a few)

Hang in there, you can do this. For me, getting to do the 5k and improving my times is a huge goal. When I started back at the end of December, walking 30 minutes on the treadmill was a challenge and I would be short of breath going up the stairs. It is amazing what conditioning and dropping a few lbs will do!
