So jealous of your swimming prowess! "Cheetah girl" my partner in crime and racing is swimmer, high school/college and she makes it look so easy....I swam well enough in high school to be a life guard but then followed it with 25 years of "mom" swimming", bobbing around holding small children-I was also a nany so I always had small kids...
I even took some swim lessons and my instructor was "if you practiced, you wouldn't be half bad?" My goal is on March 1st to really truly commit to 3 swims a week...All in order to not be A) chum when I hit the Pacific in August B) have to resort to my Esther Williams impersonation because I'm in a panic when I hit the water...
Currently, my newly recovered body is simply trying to regain some fitness so it's me versus the treadmill/elliptical and bike...Here's to a fun "tri" season...
I do "tri" but I'm better at just "du-ing" it. Swimming is my nemesis and I have this very strange fear of fish with teeth and most of our tris involve plunging into the chilly Pacific-home to many fish with teeth. However, I do the Santa Barbara Triathalon. My sister is a trainer and trains middle age peeps to "tri". She usually runs a leg of the Olympic distance on the Saturday and then crushes the Sprint distance on the Sunday, I think she wins her age group every year? She just did a half ironman in Kona-it looked brutal, not my idea of a good time? She celebrated her 50th birthday by running Boston...I have one half under my belt and would rather hang in the 10K zone...so Sprint distances are more my speed. I think you should train for whatever you want....more power to you if it involves a half marathon at the finish?
I knew before I ever got pregnant that I wanted to homeschool because I was a failure in school. I know that sounds harsh but it took my school until I was a Junior and on the verge of dropping out that I had some difficulities. I was extrememly gifted in math and science but had severe ADHD that caused organization problems for me. Then when my daughter was born there was 3 school shooting in our area in the first year of her life. That sold my husband on the whole homeschooling idea. And now we have found out she is special needs and the school district we live in doesn't have a good program available for her. We are planning on doing a Trivium style teaching. or Classical style. Its a rotation program that repeats the same 4 time sections 3 times from 1st to 12 grade. It gets more indepth every rotation.
Running in the Bahamas sounds amazing! Our chocolate run was good, the course went through Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and was pretty flat. The chocolate instead of a finisher's medal was a fun reat!
