Long lost me...

I want to be healthy again. I want to be myself, happy and energetic.

Hi there all, I've been a member of Sparkpeople for years now, but I yo yo quite often... something I'm not proud about. But it's all about getting up, dusting off and getting back on the wagon, right?

I'm a 5 ft. 2 in Mexican gal that has a little more extra weight in these God given curves of mine ;) My goal is to reach a healthy weight of somewhere between 120-130 lbs. I do have muscle and I don't want to lose that!

The highest I have weighed thus far is 180 or so, I don't know exactly because when the scale hit 179.5 I stopped weighing myself out of denial and I'm sure I went up a little higher than that. But through the help of Sparkpeople and keeping track of my calories, I've been able to shed about 25 lbs or so. Sure it's taken me years, but I'm doing it, right? ;)

I have a pretty high stress, full time job in the insurance industry. Yup, I'm sure you can imagine. It's an office job and there are so many goodies that come around there. If it's not doughnuts, it's bagels, if not bagels, cookies, if not cookies, cake... you get the idea, right? I sit most of the day, but I've changed that recently, with walks during my break times and going upstairs to the restroom instead of going to the one on my floor.

So you see, I don't do so well with stress, because I'm an emotional eater. If I'm having a bad day, I figure, "f$(! it, I don't care" and I eat. Then... I feel horrible for doing so. Recently, I've been transferring that to exercising to get my emotions taken care of. Believe you me, though, there are days where eating cheesecake sure sounds better than sweating for an hour! :)

I love being active, I love exercise, and I just recently started running on the treadmill at the gym. I never thought I'd say it, but I love running! I also have done some bikram yoga, which is intense, but totally cleansing in every sense.

I got married in 2003 and I guess it's true what they say about gaining weight because you're comfortable and happy. I also took birth control for four years, which only seemed to help my weight gain.

My Goals:

*Be able to find peace within myself so that I can re-teach myself to deal with stress and other negative emotions in a better way, rather than eating.

My Program:
I am watching my calorie intake as well as working out at least three times a week. I was blessed with the means to purchase an elliptical machine, so I'm able to work out at home. I am drinking lots and lots of water and no caffeine at all.
I like to run on the treadmill, get on the elliptical. I enjoy a good work out DVD such as Tae Bo or Turbo Jam.
I enjoy yoga as well!

Personal Information:
I'm originally from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, but have been in San Diego for almost 8 years now. I love it here, although I miss my family.
I'm a shorty, 5 ft 2 in, so weight really tends to slow me down.
I'm a sucker for sweets.

Other Information:
I enjoy reading, photography, drawing, cooking, baking, sewing, music, singing.... man, I think I enjoy many things... can't list them all. :)

Hi! Thanks for the add! I needed someone on here too to keep me accountable! I see that you've already lost some weight..that's great! Did you do it just by cutting calories and working out at the gym? what machines do you typically use??

Hey Girl, I am glad you reached out to me. I have been through a rough time recently as well. I rarely visit Spark any more and developed a foot injury which has kept me from exercising like I normally would. How is school going for you?
