IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE!! It's time to put me first and do things that'll make me happy. For some reason, I've never given myself the permission to go after the things I really wanted in life. I hated my job but I never did anything about it. I hated being overweight but I kept eating and gaining more weight. For some reason, I did the opposite of what would make me happy. I finally got to a place in my life where I realized that my happiness will only come from me. I'm a strong believer in God so I know He's about to do some great things in my life. I'm thankful because I see God working in my life everyday and I know He wants me to be happy and healthy. My body is my temple and I'm not suppose to put any and everything in it. I'm suppose to take care of it because being healthy is a blessing that most of us take for granted until we get sick and it's then that we decide to change our lives. We shouldn't have to get sick to realize that being in good health is a precious gift from God. At this point in my life, I'm like a sponge. I'm absorbing and learning so much. I'm letting God lead me and guide me to where He wants me to be. It's hard to crucify the flesh and live in the spirit but that's what we must do if we
desire that closeness with God. Even though life isn't perfect, I have so much to be thankful for and the void that I've been trying to fill has been filled and I'm finally full. I don't know what it is but many of us don't realize that we are allowed to be happy. We sometimes give so much of ourselves to others, we don't have anything left for ourselves. If we don't take care of ourselves first, then we won't be here to take care of others. God gives us the permission to be happy and fulfilled. Putting ourselves on the back burner whether it be not making time to exercise, not pursuing your dreams, not starting a business, not moving to a new state or just not doing the things that you feel will change your life for the better is detrimental. Standing on the sidelines watching everyone else truly live life is a waste of life. You shouldn't just exist, you should live. Happiness is allowed and the best time to start living is RIGHT NOW!
KEYS TO WEIGHT LOST
- drink plenty of water
- Be careful not to load up on empty calories
- Get enough sleep (especially if you workout often, your body needs the rest)
- Be careful of the calories from beverages (stick to water as much as possible)
- Don't be hard on yourself if you're not seeing results fast enough or at all. Try something different.
- Keep a positive attitude
- Be careful of those around you. People influence your decisions whether you know it or not. Eating out a lot or eating fast foods may have something to do with those around you. You don't have to cut them off, just be mindful and stay focused. Don't worry if you're the only one eating a salad and drinking water while everyone else is eating a double cheeseburger with fries and a large coke.
- If you slip up during one of your meals, it's okay but don't let that be the reason you eat everything in sight after that. Don't have the attitude "well, I messed up for today, I might as well, eat this Godiva cheesecake".
- Be realistic about your goals, you don't have to weigh the same thing you did when you were in high school 10 years ago.
-Realize that you're worth the hard work and dedication, if making time for yourself so that you can exercise means that something won't get done then OH WELL! Nothing will get done if you're unhealthy and get sick or worse.
-Make exercise fun. If you have a treadmill at home, workout when your favorite show comes on. The time will zoom by. There are also fun exercise videos you can purchase. I have a salsa workout that's so much fun, I forget I'm working out
-If you don't have a good support system at home, utilize spark people and join some groups for motivation
-Learn to motivate yourself. Unfortunately, some people don't have very supportive family and friends but that doesn't mean you should give up on yourself. Learn to self motivate. Be your own cheerleader.
-When you start seeing results, don't reward yourself with food. Try to reward yourself with a great pair of shoes or a really good book. Don't undo everything you did because you were rewarding yourself
-Make losing weight a lifestyle change. Eating healthy shouldn't be temporary especially if you have children. If you eat junk, they'll eat junk.
-Learn discipline and self control. Don't give in to your every desire because everything has a consequence.
- Most importantly, be thankful you're alive to be able to change your life and always keep God first
I want to lose 19 pounds. Most importantly, I want to have enough self control to stop eating when I'm satisfied. I don't want to eat out of bordem, sadness, or any other emotion. I just want to eat when I'm hungry.
I'm using the nutrition tracker on sparkpeople. It has helped me to pay closer attention to what I eat plus it takes the guess work out of trying to figure out calories and all that other stuff.
- Cardio 4 times a week
- Strength training 3 times a week
-Rest for two days
I'm still learning but so far, I've just reduced the calories per day but I'm teaching myself how to cook healthier. I'm going to purchase some healthy eating cookbooks. For those that like soul food, I hear that Pattie Labelle's cookbook is pretty good
I'm a pretty outgoing and down to earth person. I'm originally from New York and I (Heart) New York. I've been told I talk a lot but that's because I have a lot to say (Duh!). I'm spiritual and deep. I like to think about things that I'm sure a lot of people aren't thinking about but I guess that's what makes me unique. I don't like to share my thoughts with everyone because then I'd be labeled "weird" because most people don't like to think too deep. I love to motivate others and I always pray that how I live my life can be an example of God's goodness and it would urge people to seek God also. I have a great sense of humor. I love to laugh and to make others laugh. I think it's the best medicine.
I'm in the process of writing a book. What I would like my book to accomplish is to enlighten women and to let them know that no matter where you started from, you can still have a beautiful ending.
