Nothing Tastes as Good as Healthy Feels

Mother of 4 beautiful daughters, Grandmother of 3 - soon to be 4. I need to focus on getting healthy so that I can enjoy spending time with my children and grandchildren. It is essential I learn how to take better care of me so that I continue being the Super Mom and Grandmother to my family.

This is your Independence Sparkers mother hen here. I'm personally going to everyone on the team I can contact to invite everyone to join in on the daily challenge tomorrow. It's step aerobics tomorrow and I sure would like to see some new faces on our team page. If you do the challenge tomorrow please post with us. I know there are so many Sparkers but just a few are posting. Thanks for joining the team and have a great day.
Let's keep those fitness minutes moving.

Dear Dear Sister of Mine . . .

Well, here comes confession time. Over the past 3 weeks I have been on overload at work. During the last 3 weeks of the fall semester I have been working long hours with little to no time to do much Sparking. I minimized my time on postings and focused what time I had on eating right and getting my 30 minutes of exercise a day . . . well most days. Truthfully there were a few days that I failed to track my food and exercise, but tried not to let the demanding schedule to be an excuse to grab a meal at a fast food restaurant. Thanks to salads and healthy snack packs in my purse, I was able to survive without gaining weight. I called it my Project Zero campaign. I even lost 3 pounds . . . not tremendous success but a sign that I could survive.

I apologize that I have not been able to keep in touch with my Spark friends as much as I typically do but I hope you will understand and forgive me. It was a bit selfish to focus just on my own goals and fulfilling my obligations to the students in my 4 classes. I am still grading final exams and assignments, but the pressure is not as demanding. I have until Monday at noon to finish grades. Now I take a little time out to let you know that I have not fallen off the planet and I am still working to reach my lifestyle goals.

Here’s a little recipe for some Christmas Cheer: Don’t get your tinsel in a tangle this recipe is non-fat, and calorie free.

Start by reflecting on the reason for the season, then mix in a generous serving of good wishes, a heart full of love and armfuls of hugs for those that touch our lives all year long. Sprinkle with laughter and garnish with mistletoe. Top it off with a gift of yourself to those you love.

Serves everyone!

Best Wishes for a wonderful holiday and great success in the coming year. Let’s get moving in 2009.

emoticon Linda

Hey Denise:

Just dropping by your Spark Page to see how you are doing. The weekend is here and it is time to . . .

emoticon Recharge Our Batteries and Target our Goals . . .

I found the following on the Kashi.com web site and wanted to pass it on to you. I know I found it useful to reflect on my goals and plan for the next week.

"Are you committed to whole living, but occasionally find your devotion flagging? Not to worry: Living up to your ideals takes practice – and, sometimes, even more than that. If your daily habits are sliding away from your goals, today challenge yourself to living yours best life by trying one of the following tactics:"

"Write down specific daily goals for a whole week – Keep them small and manageable and rebuild, moment by moment.

Reward yourself each day you meet those goals – It’s okay to indulge or relax your standards once in a while, but if you earn it first, you’ll feel better.

Freshen your tool box – Communicating with like-minded people and staying up to date on trends in healthy living will revitalize you." (Hence I am leaving this comment on your page . . . since we are "like-minded" in our goal for a healthy lifestyle.)

"Use structure – Sign up for a class, exercise at the start of your day…anything you can do to ritualize your best habits."

emoticon I hope you have a great weekend! emoticon

Linda
