I am 55 and tired of this battle I have been waging since I was 15!! I'm not sure how this will be more successful then past attempts but I am willing to try - I just feel so much better when I am active and in shape. I need support in determining realistic goals and time frames for myself.

That was written a while ago - not very optomistic! Well, a lot has changed this time around - my second effort with SparksPeople. I think I was ready this time - and that has made all the difference. Focusing on lifestyle and being rigoursly honest - I only cheat myself when I'm not, isn't always easy. And I have discovered that I am a perfectionist! That has sabotaged my efforts in many things. SO this is about learning not judging and self compassion and acceptance NOW, not when I have reached my ideal weight or whatever other goals I strive for.

My Goals:
I would like to experience some"control" over my emotional and mindless eating.

I would like to be a planner of my food because it feels more creative. Not there yet, but doing really well recording what I eat.

I would like to do cardio exercise 5X a week and do more yoga


My Program:
Fitness:
I do Cardio 4x a week, strength training 2x a week, and Yoga 1x a week.
Now that the good weather is coming I want to get outdoors and do yard work, walk the 1.5 miles to work 2x a week.

I am looking for a running/jogging buddy.

My nutrional plan right now is to meet the calorie limits and record my food. WOW that level of honesty is an eye opener.



Personal Information:
My name is Kathy and I live in Maine. I am 55, have 4 grown kids and have been maried to the same terrific guy for almost 30 years!

Recently I discovered another Sparks People member at work, referred a coworker to join the Spark and now I am part of a community of 3! We are meeting 1x a week for a walk and talk or Wii fitness.

I teach and support young and older adults who are getting their high school diploma or GED. Talk about motivated students!



Other Information:
I love learning, reading mysteries and historical fiction, cooking new healthy recipes, being outdoors, and horses.

My favorite quote is from
AA:"Sometimes you have to talk the talk before you can walk the walk."
"Act as if." Thinking I am already at my goal weight and maintaining my exercise program keeps me motivated.
