21 Days
I am a 30 something living in the shadow of the “elephant in the room”; until recently I didn’t realize that the elephant was my weight. Sure, I have always struggled with my weight, but I was just “pleasantly chunky” right? After seeing this picture of me giving a speech at one of my best friend's wedding. I was horrified, where did I get this idea that I was just “pleasantly chunky”? I am glad that I saw this picture though, because it has been my "spark". For months I have been reading Sparkpages and weigh loss blogs looking for that “magic” pill that I know is out there. I have yet to find any “magic” pills, and I was a little disappointed. What I did find were real people, losing lots of weight. Who would have thought that all of those experts were right? It really is all about calories in and calories out. This is something I have never tried and maybe the reason I have never sustained a weight loss. So as I sit here typing I worry, will I be able to make it to my goal? I have that little negative voice in my head saying, “Why even try, you know you’ll fail.” I refuse to allow this voice to affect me any longer. I have decided to do a little experiment called 21 days. It takes 21 days to create a habit, so for 21 days I am going to make the following changes: Eat 1600 - 1800 calories, Drink 64 ounces of water every day, Track everything I eat everyday, Workout three times a week for 30 minutes.
