I'm on a mission

So, I swore the last time would be the last time; that I would get to my goal weight no matter what. But here I am starting all over! I started Sparkpeople in January 2010 and I was doing really well. I was very active in some groups and enjoying the learning experience. Then I hit a plateau and I struggled for months with that so all I needed was an excuse to quit. I evenutally quit and tried a couple of other times to do it on my own. Each time I plateaued but at a higher weight then before. ...

I was beginning to think that I might have some medical condition. So, as my last resort before going to a doctor was to have a body assessment at a training facility. I learned a lot about myself and my body that day! I knew what I needed to do, I just wasn't doing it the right way and I seriously needed some guideance.

Since then I have completely changed the way I eat and think about eating. I am counting calories, protein, fiber, carbs and sugar like no other and it seems to be working. Turns out I needed someone to sit me down and tell me exactly what I was doing to my body. It was a huge eye opener for me.

I think, I get it this time! It has to be a lifestyle change and I am seriously committed to making that change.

My Goals:
To get to my goal weight this time.

Do at least 30 mins of cardio.

Include ST in my exercise routine

To learn not to punish or put myself down when I slip up.

To change my lifestyle for good and find a balance.

To banish the word "diet" from my vobaulary.

My Program:
Stay within my calorie range and track every thing I eat.

Monitor my protien intake daily.

Eat at least four vegetable and fruits daily.

Cardio 3 days a week and ST at least 3 days.

Cut back on sugar and junk food.

Personal Information:
My name is Cindy, I am 37 years old and I live in Kentucky. I am married to a very supportive husband and I have two beautiful children. My daughter is 14 and my son is 2. So needless to say my life is very busy right now but I'm trying to find more time for myself.

Other Information:
I have many hobbies (reading, sewing, arts & crafts and just recently picked up gardening) but I don't get to enjoy them as much as I would like to. Having a teenager to run around and a toddler to chase doesn't leave much time for anything else.

Hi Cindy
Thanks for the kind words!

Honestly, the best tip or trick I can offer is to remember it isnt an all or nothing thing - some days are better than others, and in the end, it's all about balance. I never told myself I couldn't have something, only asked myself if I really wanted it, and how I could fit it into my day - ie, did I have extra time at the gym, or could I find a healthier alternative.

Finding ways to be kinder to myself and to accept it as a change at the core of who I was rather than another diet or quick fix was when everything really started to come together.

Oh and of course, Spark! The recipes here, the people, the teams, the book - all invaluable resources to help me keep my head on straight :)

Let me know if I can do anything to help :)
