ONE DAY AT A TIME

I turned 61 January 26th. 62 is gaining on me. I wanted to begin to really reach my goals by the summer of my 60th year so the rest of my life would be lived more healthily and happily but it didn't happen so HERE I AM AGAIN. I have been overweight my whole life and I have been ohver 250 pounds for over 15 years. I was at my heaviest at the beginning of this year. I was mortified when I stepped on the scales and they showed 301 pounds. My heaviest before that was 290. I could just imagine ...

I wanted to begin to really reach my goals by the summer of my 60th year so the rest of my life would be lived more healthily and happily but it didn't happen so HERE I AM AGAIN. I have been overweight my whole life and I have been ohver 250 pounds for over 15 years. I was at my heaviest at the beginning of this year. I was mortified when I stepped on the scales and they showed 301 pounds. My heaviest before that was 290. I could just imagine myself as one of those 600 pound women they do documentaries about. So once again I started on the never-ending journey of trying to learn to eat more healthy and lose the weight permanently. I went and talked to a friend who runs a local gym but it has taken until a couple of weeks ago to actually join the gym. I haven't actually exercised there yet but I am one step closer. Since that dreadful day on the scales, I have lost 26 pounds and I am proud to say I am eating more fruits, vegetables, and grains and less red meat and concentrated sweets. I know that although I have not reached my final goal yet, that I can never give up hope or stop trying. It is time for me to start treating myself like I should. It is time to get my whole self healthy--body, soul, and spirit healthy. It is very hard but I will forever have faith and hope that it will happen before I die.

My Goals:
I want to become more healthy and take some pressure off my knees. I hope to begin to move more while I am off work and at home.

My Program:
For now I am trying to not eat sweets and not drink cokes. I have heard a lot about eating six small meals a day not only helping with weight loss but also in keeping the blood-sugar level even. I am thinking of trying this since it is a way I can eat from all food groups and easily track my daily intake. I have also taken the first step of looking into a local gym..I haven't signed on the dotted line yet but I have taken that frist step which is a biggie for me.

Personal Information:
My name is Kathy. I live in North Louisiana and my life for the most part is peaceful and content. I work as an LPN in long-term care. I'm divorced. I have only one child, a son, and two grandchildren, both boys.My son and his wife of over 20 years along with my grandsons live in West Texas. My oldest grandson recently got married so now I have the granddaughter I never had.

Hello there! I haven't been on Spark for a while, so I just read your post on my page today. I am starting all over again, and am really motivated to stay on track this time! I have found that after I get into a routine of exercising, I actually start looking forward to it! I feel so great when I'm done! I am looking for people to motivate me, and people that I can motivate, so if you need a buddy, we can do this together! emoticon
