Am I A Size 6 Yet?

I've refound SparkPeople after a long hiatus. During summer of 2010 I got down to about 135 and was regularly running and being active - as soon as I got home the workout clothes were on and I was out the door. The combination of a shoulder injury and the inevitable cold weather really threw me off the wagon. I gained about 20 pounds in about 5 months, not very happy about that.

Not being able to fit comfortably into the majority of your wardrobe is one of the most awful feelings ...

Not being able to fit comfortably into the majority of your wardrobe is one of the most awful feelings ever. It is my own fault though, not only because I let myself gain back the weight I lost but also because for the few months I was a size 8 I indulged and bought some new clothes...some of which are still new and sitting in my closet taunting me. I even have a really cute new pair of size 6 jeans that I was so close to getting into! Now I'm afraid if I got them on and tried to button them that the button would fly off and take out someone's eye!

Working a 7:30 - 5 sucks the life out of me and makes me grumpy so I'm here to find support and motivation so I can finally make this lifestyle change. One of the unfortunate things is that I was actually an Exercise Science major in college. Despite having the information on how to lose weight, the struggle is in finding the movitation and being patient...something I don't do very well.

Hopefully we can all succeed and learn that the road to success is often a long and windy one and that once we arrive there we don't just coast back into our old ways.

My Goals:

My Program:
I'm watching my food intake more carefully and really trying to increase my intake of veggies. I'm beggining my running program again of 4 days per week, 3 times a week kettlebell and strength workouts, using a weighted hula hoop every day for at least 15 minutes, and biking or rowing at least twice a week.

Personal Information:
One quote that is really helping me right now is "There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going" - I'm trying desperately to remember that even though I want to lose these pounds right now that doing it slow is ok and better in the long run.

Hey there! We have similar stories and I think that's awesome. It's always nice to know you're not alone!

Keep at it! I started on here about 3 years ago and I can't rememnber why, but I stopped logging in :(

Just try to log in everyday and have emergency veggie snacks when those cookies start calling your name! Or tell yourself... If I eat you I'm gonna have to add 15-20 mins to my work out.

I am in Charles County, Waldorf area. But it is pretty nice in St. Mary's I would move down that way if I could still be closer to the city, but I am close enough to St Mary's and visit friends down that way too.

My weekend was nice :) had a girl day with lunch and a little shopping, should have cleaned the house some but it was nice to just relax! for my birthday I think we're just going to go to King St and visit some bars, see what's there. Before that we're going to a japanese steakhouse around here for dinner, my favorite!

I've really been enjoying the C25K program so far!! I have the App on my iPod so when I am at the gym, it will tell me when to walk and run without having to really "think" about it! It makes it so much easier!! :)

I was SO winded last night doing my workout! I work in Bethesda (ugh) so taking the bus to the metro and riding that in is looking better and better. I used to live in Gaithersburg so the commute wasn't bad at all until we bought our house in Woodbridge. I'm hoping to get a closer position with the same company later on this year, fingers crossed! I am actually going to Alexandria next month for my birthday outing :) Any good plans for your weekend?
