Losing 4 Kate
Last year didn't have great results! =( I did put in a tremendous amount of effort during the summer working out 6 days a week with some intense training and swimming. Net loss after 3 months of effort.... 0 pounds lost. So intense working out without changing diet isn't the answer for me. Still trying to find the right mix of diet and exercise that motivates my body to shed weight. Good news is that I have not given up and continue to try to live healthier. Some days are better ...
Some days are better than others. The other good news is that I have added the Holy Spirit to my power pack and focus daily on living for Him. I get lots of support from Him and pray for true change in my life. This change has resulted in a more joyful existence and a 6 pound loss since December. Not a huge change in weight, but a huge change in attitude and approach that has resulted in being more at peace with myself and my efforts.
My short term goal: Get to the 230's!
So last year I learned the first year of motherhood is rough! Time was always in short supply and my LO's needs always came first. This year I am focusing on balance and getting organized so that I can focus on my need to get healthy. I have to get this right. I am tired of making excuses and need to get this right to be the good role model for Kate. Time has run out and she is now watching my every move, my every bite! And she is starting to take off and I want to be able to keep up and play with her. This is the year that I get the ball rolling in the right direction.
So now that I have my precious baby girl to fill my arms, it has really changed the way I look at life. I am determined to be the best mother to this little girl that I can possibly be. And one way I can accomplish this goal is to be a good role model, healthy and fit to encourage good eating patterns for her life. She is a little peanut now and this is the ideal time to get in shape and get healthy habits formed before she takes her first bite of real food.
The year that I will conceive a child. But before I get ahead of myself, I need to lose some weight to help make this happen. This year instead of sitting back and whining about why I am fat and barren, I am going to do something positive and change my mental and physical outlook so that I can conceive the child for which I have always dreamed.
So why only 35 pounds?? Surely I should lose more than 35, I am obese! While this is true, large weightloss goals overwhelm me and I get too frustrated when my progress is slow. Last year I lost 30 pounds, with the help of SP, and then went into maintenance mode. This worked well and I was able to maintain the loss. So my goal is to lose another 35 pounds this year and maintain this loss until the end of the year. This allows me to take a break from weightloss mode and SP and the stress that inevitably builds up. It is not the fastest weight loss, but it sure beats gaining 30 pounds a year!!
March 2011 Update -
Well I didn't get all the weight off prior to pregnancy, but I am delighted that we got pregnant a lot sooner than we thought possible. I am due in late November and for the time being just eating healthy with moderate exercise. I have lost about 6 pounds since I became pregnant due to decreased appetite and nausea. But I know that the 2nd and 3rd trimesters will have me gaining. So I am hoping to limit my pregnancy gain to 15-20 pounds since I am so overweight to start off with.
