Hi there! I am not new to SparkPeople, but has been "MIA" for the past two years. I first joined SparkPeople when I turned 50, but I had difficulty staying focused. I am now turning 54 in a couple of weeks, and I still am fighting the same old "weight demons". In fact, in the past two years since I have been off the website, I gained yet another 10 lbs! I joined a new gym about 2 months ago and totally love it! They really push you to eat right, hold you accountable for attending exercise classes regularly, and offer all kinds of weight loss programs, if you are interested. I have lost 7 lbs in the past month, but decided it is time to get back to tracking my food, if I am going to lose the other 13 lbs I want/need to lose! So naturally, I drifted back to SparkPeople, where I found soooo much support in the past. So here I go, with a much stronger fire lit under me this time, thanks to my new gym and their awesome coaches and of course, this website! I am totally committed to making the rest of my life, truly the best of my life!
To lose 20 lbs,and to do this weight loss thing for the last time!!

I have a 19 year old son who recently joined the Navy in June 2013. Hearing his stories of the extreme challenges of Navy Boot Camp motivated me to work out hard each day that he was being worked hard in Boot Camp. After 8 weeks, my son graduated Boot Camp and his mom has finally found the motivation to continue what she started!

It has seemed that way with me in the past...I either get one or the other. For a while I worked out all the time, but eating wasn't all that great. Then I quit working out and changed to eating clean. Not intentionally, but that's how it worked out! I think the working out part might be better (if one were better than the other), because it's so good for your heart. I'm glad you're doing it! I need to pull myself together.
Yes, twisters would be scary too! We really don't get them too much in PA, but of course just this year we did about 10 miles south of Pittsburgh. Pretty scary. Generally our weather is pretty calm. Some super hot days in the summer, some super cold days in the winter. Our biggest event is usually one big snow storm in the middle of winter, lol! We haven't felt any after shocks, so that's cool! Hopefully that one doesn't happen again for a long, long time!

Yes, we are all fine, just really surprising to have a quake around here! They belong in your state, lol! It was a 5.9 magnitude and it just shook up the whole east coast, as far south as Atlanta and as far north as Canada. Crazy!

Just wanted to update you on the "Run for Pizza" 5K. I missed my goal by 15 seconds. I wanted to run under 30 minutes. Chip time, 30:14.
I have another race coming up in September in Miami. Going to go for the gusto!
