I'm a young grandmother (I'm 54 years old) of 7, and by losing weight and strengthening my back and abs I'm once again able to carry my grandchildren. I had a few problems with my back and wasn't able to do that. In 2000 I weighed 210 pounds and got serious about losing weight. I have been stressed over many family issues for the last year, starting in June. I have gained back weight. Thankfully not all the weight I had in 2000, but I am fearful that I won't get this under control. I have started to make slow progress now that I found myself at 166 pounds. I am not comfortable at this weight. I can't even wear my favorite rings.

I'm a Christian, and I am pretty quiet about it usually. I just figure my actions speak louder than words, but I use that as my justification for the lack of courage I have in sharing with others the convictions I have in my mind that God is the only source of my life and happiness. I have had a great three months and I took all the credit, I am ashamed to say. Sure I had to make the efforts and actively work the program I've planned for myself, but I believe my strength to do so comes from him! To God be the Glory!

I've stalled between 142 and 145. I'm not as motivated to get off the last couple of pounds since I'm feeling pretty good about myself. I like how my clothes fit. But for some reason I do keep making efforts to lose and get down to 140. I had thought 130 would be my goal, but now I don't see that as realistic.

It has been one year since I first logged into SparkPeople. I weigh 16 pounds less and am at a good weight and fitness level. I have recently been working on maintaining. I'm not having a hard time continuing to exercise, but struggle everyday to keep my calorie intake at a level to maintain my weight. Haven't quite figured out my personal formula for success. There is the factor of going through menopause this last 7 months, and I'm sure my metabolism is fighting with that! But I will fight back!

My Goals:
Update: 8/19/13

It's been quite a while since I updated this. I gained a few pounds over my maintenance range. Got 10 pounds over goal. I'm working now at getting back to the goal of 145 and I'm hoping once I reach that I will be able to reset it lower. I have found a renewed zeal about keeping on the low end of my calorie range and I've lost 4.5 pounds since 8/1/13. It's been steady and gradual, and part of it is due to drastically reducing sugar in my diet and not binge eating.

Update: 11/4/12

I have been maintaining a weight between 142 and 145 since Feb of 2012. This is good. According to my measurements for Body Fat Percentage, done by the kinesiologist at the Y, I am at 24.4%. My goal was 25% so I am very happy with that measurement!

I am in maintenance mode. I struggle a bit with binges lately, but with the support I'm receiving from y'all at SP, I am going to get past that.


My Program:
Walking, elliptical, recumbent cycling. and ST are my current modes of exercise. I drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. I'm doing cardio 3 days a week and ST 3 days a week. I am consistently eating 5 or more freggies a day. I'm recording food intake and also my exercise.

I've recently learned that I eat out of boredom. Keeping busy has helped me make good progress in not binge eating.

I like journaling and blog writing to record progress and focus on the ways I'm improving my life.

Personal Information:
Married 36 years. 4 grown children. Three of them married, with children.

7 grandchildren, the latest born on Christmas Eve, 2013.

Other Information:
I'm a Christian

I love to read. One of my favorite books is The Shack.

Art Journaling is a new enjoyable activity for me.

I'm a knitter and a quilter.

Thanks for your support on my blog. I stopped bingeing while losing for the first year..and then have continued on these last three years. This is the first time that I have been binge free in my life.
