Pam's Road to Regained Health

I am a high school guidance counselor and adjunct professor by profession, dirvorced with two grown children. I am interested in environmental issues and love animals. The last time I "got healthy" was when I turned 40. A lot has happened since then and I have really fallen off the wagon. I want to make taking care of myself a priority, but have failed so many times that I don't know where to start any more.

My Goals:
My son is graduating from Law School in May 2013. I was fat at my daughter's wedding, and would love to be healthy for this event.

My Program:
My goals are to walk on a daily basis. I have severe arthritis so I am starting slowly but want to be consistent. I also want to do stretching/yoga. I plan on eating real food over processed, and on basically following a vegetarian eating plan.

Personal Information:
I am originally from upstate New York but have spent my entire adult life (after college) on Long Island. My passion is my work, and I work a lot at both of my jobs in education. My e-mail address is iampam610@yahoo.com.

Other Information:
As my kids have grown up and away I have found that I am pretty alienated. I have work friends, but no one to hang out with when I am not working. I want to take care of myself and be kinder to myself.

Id like to invite you to join in my challenge to lose 10 pound in July. i know some of us might be saying 10 pounds? that is too much! cant do it! But i here to tell u i did it for 7 months straight, b4 i got sick with cancer and had dropped out for a yr and a half. if u stay within ur calories that are alotted and if u track everything that passes ur lips u can do it too. I was never one that stayed on a diet more than 3 weeks at a time, and then I'd get discouraged and dropped off. i lost 75 pounds just doing calorie counting and tracking to make sure i never went over. i barely exercised ...i am handicapped and i cant do exercises in the conventional way but i flapped my arms while sitting and leg raises. very minimal stuff. the idea was to keep moving and i did that. so i know with disipline, encouragement and motivation u can too.. so i invite u to come and join me on my 10 pound challenge! emoticon emoticon

Hey Pam, Im am the same. Gain 5lbs, lose 5lbs lol. However, I have great news on the job front. I received an email saying I should be starting by the weekend (hopefully Friday tho) and now I can start my new career as a security guard. But with this job ( I don't know if I told you yet) I will travel all over Canada and my employer will put me up in a hotel etc and its crazy money but its crazy hours too lol. But its all good cuz I need to make a lot of money fast because I need to get out of debt from the chip wagon. Its tax time and I owe HST for the wagon still plus I owe my parents and inlaws big bucks too lol.
