I AM FIFTY - and I feel GREAT!!! Finding Spark has been one of the most wonderful blessings of my life. Since starting SparkPeople, I have lost 43 lbs. and have commenced a journey to become the best me I can possibly be. I am taking better care of my health, exercising and running, continuing to eat healthy and maintain my weight loss. I am also learning to practice the same principles that helped me reach my goal weight to achieve goals in other areas of my life; ie., financially, professionally and with organization and time management. I am just beginning to comprehend how vast my options in life are and what I can do to achieve my dreams while maintaining a balance in my day to day life. I am becoming happier, more content and self assured as life goes on and I intend to keep Spreading the Spark.

I can hardly believe I've been Sparking for three years now! Still, I learn something new everyday. Sometimes I think it was easier losing the weight than it is keeping it off, but the rewards are so worth it. My goal this year is to get back of the few pounds that I have gained back and to get more consistently active. I am also planning to then start school and get my certification as a personal trainer and continue on from there to become a physical therapist. It is amazing how many areas of my life that have been Sparked by this program. Eager to find out what new roads it is going to lead me down!

The weather where I live has been frigid with lost of snow. It is a time of year when being cooped up due to the weather can cause a feeling of loneliness and perhaps even cause turning to food. Here is a Prayer for MidWinter that I have been saying this week.
From the rising of the midwinter sun to its setting,

Scatter the darkness with the light of your love, O Shining One.( I say Jesus)

Make me short on mean thoughts, long on offers words of comfort.

Make me short on being driven, long on paying attention.

Make me short on focusing only on my own, long on looking beyond.

Make me short on obsessive lists, long on spontaneous acts of kindness,

Make me short on mindless activity, long on time to reflect.

Make me short on tradition as a habit, long on rediscovery and re-owning.

Make me short on rushing a tiring, long on walking and wondering.

Make me short on false, festive jollity, long on stilling and rooted joy.

Make me short on guilt, long on being merciful to myself.

Make me short on being overwhelmed, long on peaceableness as I set forth this day.

-from The Celtic Wheel of the Year by Tess Ward

I hope it ministers to you also.

The prayer of my heart this week is found in the lyrics of a song by Hillsong. May we always seek the ways of the Lord on this journey and in life.

Show Me Your Ways
Song by Hillsong Live

Show me Your ways
That I may walk with You
Show me Your ways
I put my hope in You
The cry of my heart
Is to love You more
To live with the
Touch of Your hand
Stronger each day
Show me Your ways
Show me Your ways
That I may walk with You
Show me Your ways
I put my hope in You
The cry of my heart
Is to love You more
To live with the
Touch of Your hand
Stronger each day
Show me Your ways
Show me Your ways
That I may walk with You
Show me Your ways
I put my hope in You
The cry of my heart
Is to love You more
To live with the
Touch of Your hand
Stronger each day
Show me Your ways
Show me Your ways
That I may walk with You
Show me Your ways
I put my hope in You
The cry of my heart
Is to love You more
To live with the
Touch of Your hand
Stronger each day
Show me Your ways

If we look upward, it will be that much harder to drag us down!

Have a blessed week.

No matter what the circumstances are, we have to remember that the Bible says "Give thanks in all things"
Don Moen is one of my favorite Christian music artists. Here are the words to one of his songs, that I hope will minister to you this week. I sing it as a prayer.

Thank You Lord
Song by Don Moen
Bible says it's a good thing to give thanks to the Lord, amen
I come before You today
And there's just one thing that I want to say
Thank You Lord
Thank You Lord
For all You've given to me
For all the blessings I can not see
Thank You Lord
Thank You Lord
With a greatful heart
With a song of praise
With an outstreched arm
I will bless Your name
Thank You Lord
I just wanna thank You Lord
Thank You Lord
I just wanna thank You Lord
Thank You Lord
For all You've done in my life
You took my darkness and gave me Your light
Thank You Lord
Thank You Lord
You took my sin and my shame
You took my sickness and healed all my pain
Thank You Lord
Thank You Lord
With a greatful heart
With a song of praise
With an outstreched arm
I will bless Your name

SOmetimes I feel so discouraged on this journey. I feel defeated and like I am a failure. Some days I feel so unworthy knowing I have not made the right choices.
At times like those, Christian music can change my focus and lift my spirit. today I share the lyrics of a song written by Geron Davis. His wife Becky does such a touching rendition.

Mercy Saw Me- Written By Geron Davis

The years had left scars. The scars had left pain. How could he recognize me? I wasn't the same. I knew I should pay and I knew the price. For justice and law demanded my life. Yet, his tender heart heard my desperate cry. And he saw my past through merciful eyes.

Chorus: Beautiful! That's how mercy saw me; Though I was broken and so lost, mercy looked past all my faults. Justice of God saw what I had done, but mercy saw me through the Son; Not what I was, but what I could be, that's how mercy saw me.

Wherever you go, you can't go too far that his eyes of mercy can't see where you are. He loves you too much to leave you alone. You're flesh of his flesh and bone of his bone. Yet his heart cries out for your heart today. See yourself through his eyes and then you will say, you'll say:

Bridge: Sin has stolen my dignity and all my self-esteem. But I was made brand new again when mercy looked at me.

Know that when the Lord looks at YOU - in HIS eyes - You are beautiful!
