Hi everyone. I'm a 20 year old college student, currently studying abroad in Italy. After freshmen year, a car accident, the death of my grandfather and subsequent anti-depression medication, I gained 20lbs. I started to feel unhealthy and hated to do the outdoorsy things I used to love doing with my dad. When your fifty year old father is picking you up out of a heap on the side of the trail, it's a big motivator to make a change. I'm a pre-veterinary student looking to specialize in canine sports medicine and I realized that in order credibly give people advice about the diet and exersise of their animals, I needed to set an example myself. I started using spark in June and will keep using it even after I have reached my goals.

19/1/2009: Today I am officially within 1lb of my goal weight! It has been a long journey, but I'm happy that it took as long as it did because it gave me time to really learn my new habits that I believe will help me maintain my goals. Given that it's early in the new year, I thought it was time to set some new, non weight related, goals for the new year. I've updated them in the "my goals" section, so check it out. I'm going to post a blog entry with all of my goals and the rewards I plan to give myself as well. I will try to blog more often to keep myself active around here. Remember everyone, yes you can!

9/1/2010: Well, it's been a rough year and I've gained a fair bit of weight back, so here I am again, trying to take care of my body and get back to my healthy weight. I've been pressed for time with work, applications, school, and thesis writing, so I've been making excuses for almost six months about why I don't have time to take care of myself, but it's over now and I'm back on the horse. I'm updating my goals again to suit my current physical condition, but hope to get back to my original goals by next spring. I have added due dates to push me to get it done.

30 min cardio 5 days per week
